What are some garb sellers that you wish set up at your home faire?
I know I wish that Oddbodkin and damsel in the dress set up at MDRF because I saw BOTH of the bodices I want (really badly) today at faire, and have decided I would absolutely have to try before I buy. But they're both far away :(
I wish Moresca and Medieval Moccasins were at Bristol. I think Moresca was there several years ago, but not anymore. I, too, have seen things from both that I like, but I want to see in person and try on. But if we can get to Scarby next year. . . . . ;D
would love to see Noblesse Oblige at TRF
-h
Kat, what a great thread!!
I wish we had a Moresca and/or Pendragon (at KCRF). I'm tired of hearing everybody raving about them, and not get to see for myself!
lmao I have moresca and Noblesse Oblige at Maryland.. but I can't afford any of it...
I wish we had a moresca and pendragon at ORF... we have Sofi's stitches and then (dang, I can't think of the name)...the one that has all the lace skirts and the standard ren bodices... and a sprinkling of smaller vendors (over all a very nice collection, but I miss having Pendragon and Moresca..at TRF I was so used to having them there and now that I've moved and my home festival is ORF, not there... )
Fortune Rose: Are you talking about Crystal Finery across from the Pirates Treasure? Or Unicorn Clothing near the entrance?
TNRF needs Moresca for sure. We do have Boss Wench and that's a plus! :D
ORF needs Moresca too - although that means I'd spend even more $$ at faire. :|

The first that came to mind was Crystal Finery, but aren't the two very similar, if not the same clothing? (although Unicorn Clothing seems to have more childs garb)
I wish Tall Toad's was at Scarby! Now I have to figure out how to get 2 hats back to Texas tomorrow. I think I'm just going to wear one and have fun with airport security!
Three years ago I bought a tall hat at La Paloma at TRF & promised myself another LP hat the next year. They sadly were not there and would love to have another of their hats. I'd also love to have a Blonde Swan at TRF (can you tell I'm a hat ho?). Oh, and a Silver Squirrel.
Off topic, but I think more shows should have a book store selling historic related books.
Groomporter, that's exactly it! MNRF has no book sellers. While, not garb related, book stores would make a wonderful addition to any faire. Ye Olde Barnes and Noble where you could get period books and a coffee. A place to dial back a bit from the day.
As for garb, I don't even remember the name of the shop at Bristol but they had these silky chemises that I wanted to just pile onto the floor and roll around on. Sadly, their staff was far more interested in their own gossip and completely ignored my husband and I during our almost 10 minutes of looking in their store. Oh well. Still, loved their fabrics!

Does Blonde Swan have a shop at any faire or are they just an online shop? I'd love to see their stuff in person even if I have to make a mini-vacation out of it!
I saw one of the Blonde Swan broom rider hat's last year at Scarby - gorgeous stuff.
The Blonde Swan's 2009 Show Schedule
Aug 15- Oct 4 Weekends Michigan Renaissance Festial
Sept 5 - Oct 25 Weekends Ohio Renaissance Fair

Blonde Swan has a shop at MIRF and had one at Pennsic this year. They do sell at other faires but I'm not sure which ones.

Oops! I guess I should have read page two before answering! :D
I second having The Tall Toad at Scarby (or TRF)! Picked up a Robin Hood style hat from them at MDRF last weekend and think all of their wares are top-notch.
Not quite garb, but I miss Single Tree - by the time I finally figured out that I'd love to have one of their flasks in a leather holder, they were no longer at TRF. (Didn't have the coin when I ran into them at MNRF, unfortunately.)
Pendragon and New Pterodactyl Leather, which I've only ever seen at CRF. They emptied out my wallet the first three times I went down there.
A "Dollar" Potomac Leather or Ravenswood Leather Store...
Hey, a gal can wish, can't she?? ;)
I wish there was a children's garb shop at my faire. I wish Damsel in this Dress was at my Faire too.

OH YEAH!!! That $1300 Strider coat at Potomac Leather last weekend was quite something, and Ravenswood seems to get a large chunk of my garb budget every year at TRF.
We need a garb "outlet mall" where one might pick up "last season's" fashions for a fraction of their original cost.
I wish The Blonde Swan would come back to GLMF. :(
I'd love to see Moresca at one of the Ohio faires which most likely never happen, but I'd also be thrilled if they were at MIRF.

Well, Sandscrafter up at MDRF didn't have all the same leatherwork that Potomac had, but they had a lot of nice stuff at great prices, and I wish they'd come down to Florida.
Somewhere with pirate boots @ mnrf! (don't give a darn if they're not HA!) :)
Along with the bookshop there should be a pattern shop, or lots of patterns in the bookshop.
I also think we need a "pub" that's actually a sit-down coffee shop with a small stage so there's at least one alcohol-free, sheltered performance space.
I would love to see a bookshop at MNRF. But isn't there some rule about all shops being artisan-based, so a percentage of the items must be handmade? I would think just a book shop with Renaissance-related themes (historical fiction, historical non-fiction, fantasy etc) would be nice, but those books wouldn't be handmade.
more bookstores all around- I'm fans of The Aerie, who I think does just the smaller north TX faires and celtic festivals.
Taffy- according to MaritaBeth at Pendragon, the TRF store is now selling the La Paloma hats- i saw some last year there- not sure if they are doing orders, but apparently you can get them there.
Honestly, i want ALL vendors at my faires! because, well, Faire is the only time I ENJOY shopping!

Strictly speaking all our stuff at MNRF is supposed to be made by the artist (But they draw the line pretty loose), but the bookstore is the big exception I would make to that rule.

KCRF has one--Cup & Chaucer--and it's wonderful (OMG, the scones are to die for!). I'm actually not sure if we have a "pub" like you're talking about that sells alcohol (although there might be one), since most of our stages are just standalone.
Same here, but our 2, or 3 pubs that are more than just beer stands and have a room with stools and tables are scheduled spots for music acts to appear during the day, although they don't actually have stages.
I wish at MDRF we had the Blonde Swan, seen a hat of theirs and I Really like it!Checked out their site and the hats are just beautiful.
Crimson Chain or Nightshade leather. I see the rest at Pennsic or I-Con
