We were at Bristol this weekend, marching in the parade carrying the sign for Excalibur Leather, just before the parade started, when the Costume Director came up to me.
A couple of weeks ago, she came up to me to ask me to cover up these bloomers, so I thought I might have made another boo boo.

Well, I was wearing this yesterday:

and she came up to tell me that my outfit was exquisite and how she loved it. She said red was a good color because it visually "popped," and it was a beautiful gown.
So thank you, Lady Kathleen of Olmsted, for making me a gown that got raves from a Costume Director!
HUZZAH!!!
I love the pock a dot bloomers and striped socks, it's fun! :D You look pretty in both pictures!
I like both outfits, and I love the pirate necklace!
Gotta agree tho, with the red dress, it "pops" beautifully!
Huzzah, Lady Renee!
Im still confused as to why you were approached by the costume director in the first place...
Because Parade has very strict rules for what is and isn't allowed. Friends of Faire members who are Not Cast are allowed to march with the Friends of Faire banner as part of parade as long as they conform to the rules. The first time was because visible bloomers are not allowed. The second time was likely because Lady Renee Did Look MARVELOUS, and to balance out the fact that she'd been asked to "fix" something before.

I mentioned this in another post, and I don't want anyone to get the impression that I was upset about the bloomers. On the contrary, I was so excited that she came up to me about them! She said they were cute, but the pattern was loud, so that's why she asked me to cover them for the parade, and then I could show them again afterwards. I was so blown away that she thought they were cute, I had the biggest grin on my face the rest of the day. And of course, I covered them immediately, and after the parade, hitched the skirt back up, and continued to grin even on the drive home!
The red dress definitely packs a WOW factor! ;D
I love it!
OK this now makes sense. I did not know there were strict rules on the parade...and I also got the impression she was asked to fix them for the rest of the day (not just the parade :D ) there I go running my mouth before I need to again! ;D
They probably really wouldnt like some of my costumes LOL :D
