Title: Bodice fit
Post by: Taffy Saltwater on September 08, 2009, 08:51:54 PM
I tried on my Moresca pirate this evening and found to my great amazement that when I lace it, it is literally edge to edge on both the front & back.  Since I haven't lost weight I can only assume that sands are ever shifting southward.  So is it time for a smaller bodice?

Yay for needing a smaller size!!! Just becasue the numbers on the scale haven't changed doesn't mean that you aren't smaller. Muscle weighs more than fat so your body can be in better shape and getting firmer without a significant change in weight. What does your tape measure say?

Not a whit of difference - maybe I'm just squishier.

It could be caused by "corset training". My ribcage changes shape from beginning of season to end. My measurements don't seem to change but I go from a 2-3 knuckle gap at the beginning to closed at the end.

I haven't had this on since last year this time.   Since it will close w/a minimum amount of pulling I may go in and try a smaller size to see if it's me or the bodice that's weird.

I would say it's possible that the fabric has stretched a little, but you'd think things would relax again over the off-season.

I can't explain about the measurements.  I am currently the same weight and exact same measurements as I was two years ago, and I'm wearing a full dress size larger (same weight).  I can't even dream of getting those pants on, but the tape measure tells me my thighs are exactly the same.  Who knows?!

About a month ago I went through a two week time span in which my waist was two inches larger than usual - no weight gain.  I was freaking out.  I then magically deflated.  And no, it wasn't my favorite aunt visiting, since her expeditions have long since passed into history.  The older I get the more my body (not to mention face, hair, etc) scares the bee-gee out of me.
