My friend and I are thinking of camping on Friday and Saturday nights all eight weekends. We'll be working there together so it would really save on gas money. I've never camped at TRF before so I'm clueless about these things. Any tips or advice is seriously welcome.
Are you even allowed to camp if you're under the age of eighteen with no legal adults at TRF?
You girls might want to camp in participant and not playtron... just wait on some other opinions, though.
First connect with an established group like Clan McLotofus, Celtic Rogues, Phoenix Risen or one of the many others.
Camp with a group of people so you will not be "two teenage girls camping alone". Most of the clans will not be there in force every weekend, but can connect you with people that will be there. Camp at TRF is a lot of fun and safer than a lot of places, but please note I said a lot of places, not as safe as your parent's house. Camp with adult friends and you can have as much fun as you want, without getting into trouble you will regret.

Yes we and almost all of the clans will be there in force Opening Weekend and I hereby invite you to camp with Phoenix Risen. Look for a white full size van next to several blue EZ-Ups. We will try to be on Row 0 which is all the way at the front of the camp grounds.
Noticing Fraser's response, he is right. Participant's camping is available to you if you are working in the faire (and your boss may require you to camp there), and doesn't get quite as outrageous as Patrons.
Being former law enforcement on this board I would highly recommend not making this fact publicly known. I would even recommend having admin delete it. I realize that you haven't given personal information, but I would keep that fact on the down low while out at fair. Just my two cents.
I will be working as well all 8 weekends, and plan to camp also. My father, sister, and fiance will be with me every weekend (in some combo or another). We will be in participants for all but the big 3, and with Phoenix Risen for Opening, All Hallows, and Closing. Feel free to send me a message on here and we can make arrangements so you have someone handy you know. I promise Im trustworthy and honest, ask anyone around. . . :D

Said the spider to the fly. At least for the big three there will be others to protect them.

OH GREAT! Now I can't even escape you in participant's camping. Great..... ::) ;)
It would most likely be safest for you ladies to camp in participants; at least for the first couple of weekends. Come by playtrons if you can; visit and get to know folks in the different clans. :)
We at McLotofus are open to visitors just as Phoenix Risen and other clans. If you are looking to join a clan, then you want to visit for sure! ;D See what the requirements are to join, what the clans are about, etc. There are some great Clans out in playtrons, fiercely loyal, honorable and dependable people.
Shout a 'Hail & Well Met!' when you visit! ;D
I, too, would suggest Participant's camp for the first couple of weekends. Get to know a few people and clans out at patron's and then camp there. Patron's is pretty safe, but you never know what can happen. I camp close to row zero as well. You're welcome to come stop by my camp if you'd like. :)
I would recommend speaking with your employer first. There may already be a designated area for you in Participants. There are a few who even have space over their shoppes for employees.
Thank you all so much for the advice and invites. It's greatly appreciated.

Chris, go play with your bellydancers! Who said I wanted to be anywhere you would have need of escaping me? Just because you're handsome, well built, play the violin, and smart doesnt mean I want to be around you. I just tolerate you so I can bask in AM's glow! ;)
Yes, if you are participant (shop staff), camp in Participants. After your lords and masters at the shoppe have worked you for the day, you will want a quiet evening relaxing in Participants. There are better facilities (showers and flushies) there and much more quiet.
Also, there is a general rule that participants cannot mingle with the Playtrons, but no one is watching. It's mainly because they want you rested for your working day.
Just stay away from the Beefeaters.

As the Official Clan Dirty Old Man
tm I have to keep them distracted somehow. You make good bait. :P
Echoing the echoed-to-death recommendation: play in playtrons (WITH TRUSTWORTHY ESCORTS/CHAPERONES!! Cannot stress that enough), camp in participants. If you can camp in your booth, so much the better, but if not, there are a lot of well-known and well-laid-out camps of good folk in Participants. If you work for MIL, you will already have assigned camping, so tis a moot point there. As for trustworthy folks, you'd be surprised at how many of us are former/current law enforcement or the like, and you'll wind up with a cadre of hyperprotective "older brother" types so fast it will make your head spin. That being said, make sure you let them know which young men are allowed inside the curtain wall, so to speak, or you'll find them skewered with the other young rogues on the parapets ;D
My wife is a security contractor, former MP in the Army, a natural redhead and pregnant (if there is a deadlier and more protective creature on this planet, I know it not) and she said if you would prefer a female chaperone, drop by the blacksmith shop and she'll help if she can.
Breandan, THAT is funny (the description of your lethal weapon there)! :D
You have obviously never met a female MP security specialist! They are scary! I worked with several back when I was a Tower Rat, and they were the baddest people on the site. Throw in her other qualifications and I don't want to meet this wonderful lady, she'd probably hurt me on general principles. :o
she's a sweetheart, really 8)
