Title: Wizardly robe advice needed...
Post by: Rummy6 on September 20, 2009, 08:28:45 PM
My wife and I have recently decided to start attending Ren Faires in costume. While my wife's attire is almost complete, I am having a harder time. I am looking for a simple, hoodless wizard robe with only a few adornments. My problem is that I can't seem to find anything pre-made that I like.

Might anyone be able to suggest a website where I could actually design my own? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

By "design your own," do you mean you want to make it, or are you looking for recommendations for vendors who will do custom work?

The Big 3 pattern companies (Simplicity (http://www.simplicity.com), McCall (http://www.mccallpattern.com/index.htm), and Butterick (http://www.butterick.com/list/costumes/page-1)) all carry a variety of robe patterns, and you could easily omit the hood.

As for vendors, I haven't ever worked with them before, but I love the robes at Twin Roses (http://www.twinrosesdesigns.com/).

You could also try 13 moons.

I have made the Butterick Robe three times with 3 different types of fabric. It is rather easy to make.
