As many of you know, we lost a dear friend and wench of Local 42 in this past
off season "Kathleen Martin, or Katelyn as she was known at faire. Katelyn
was a generous soul that will be dearly missed.
To acknowledge Katelyn's generous soul, we, the wenches of Local 42 and
friends of Katelyn, are holding a food drive this Saturday, September 26, at the
Maryland Renaissance Festival. Food collection will occur outside the Season
Pass Holder Gate from just prior to gate opening until noon. The food
collected will be donated to a food bank in Katelyn's s name.
So please, take the time to grab a couple of things from your pantry this
Saturday and bring it to faire to donate in Katelyn's name.
Regards,
The Wenches of Local 42
Food Drive in Katelyn's Memory
Where: Maryland Renaissance Festival, outside of the Season Pass Holder Gate
When: Saturday, September 26 (just prior to gate open to noon)
P.S. Please feel free to cross post at will.
We will be there, lass!! (Todd wants to bring acorns...)
We will be glad to get nuts from him.
Will I be able to make a monetary donation. I'm traveling down from NYC. Also, where is the "Pass Holders gate"? We will be coming in through the performer gate. Is it out front by "will call"?
FYI, on Sept. 1st we included Kathleen in a memorial held in our Friends of Faire memorial garden at NYRF. She had adopted 4 cats (two of which subsequently passed away) from me after my mom passed away in 2003 and will always be thought of as family.
The pass holder's gate is just to the left of the main gate everybody (patron) goes in by.

And to clarify/embellish:
The performers' gate is far to the left of that, down the hill. Go up the hill from the performers' gate, and the first set of doors you see in the white castle wall is the pass holders' gate (it also doubles as the exit, which really isn't in use much between 10 and 11AM, when most of the pass holders are coming in)
BTW, just talked to the organizers and yes, monetary donations are welcome. Check your RenMail.
They might mean the other performer's gate that's back behind the participant's parking lot.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the Katelyn Memorial Food Drive a success this past weekend at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Over 300 pounds of food and $300 were donated to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank in Katelyn's name. Thanks to all of you, we were able to honor Katelyn in a way that was very fitting with her generous nature.Huzzah and Well Met!The Wenches of Local 42 Please copy and repost as needed.
