This story just breaks my heart but also reminds me that there are people out there that do the right thing above and beyond personal disaster.

Her choices were to undergo a very long legal battle that she had very little chance of winning or have an abortion.
I find it quite amazing that this woman is going to gestate for the "greater good'.
The clinic that made this blunder.....hmmm...your thoughts and mine are probably small comparatively to what these families have already thought and ultimately have to live with.
I think it's less about the greater good, really, than empathy- think how YOU would feel if you discovered someone else was carrying your child and thought to terminate it? It's a beyond generous, loving act...
No doubt there belle.
She certainly was within her rights to terminate...but then she put herself in the same place.
An unprecidented example of unselfishness.
Yup, and if they were willing to go to that extent to have another child in spite of her previous problems, they can't really justify aborting someone else's embryo.
That in the end is the truth Groomporter ...but she has no obligation to carry the pregnancy to term...especially since none of this was her fault and she wants a child just as much.
Given the same situation...I'll be the first to say ...I probably would have been selfish and could not have done what this woman is doing.
I watched that on tv this morning, I was on the brink of tears most of the time.
It really is amazing that they are able to cope through this as well as they seem to have been able to.
On a related note...
If it is not already set up this way, I was recently thinking that anyone undergoing a procedure that creates multiple embryos should first sign documents stating what they want done with any extras embryos. Choose one of the below:
A. Make them available to other couples with fertility problems.
B. Make them available for research.
C. Destroy them.
D. Hold them frozen in reserve (for a fee) for a certain amount of time, and after "X" amount of time do option A, B, or C)
E. ??
The decision should be made before the eggs are fertilized.
