It sounds like we're going to have a bunch of new folks attending on the final weekend. Perhaps we should make a concerted effort to revive our 10:00am mead booth meeting time. I know with lots of us working it isn't always possible but if a few people can sneak away to welcome the new-comers, it sure would make them feel welcome.
For those that don't know what I mean, let me explain. No, is too much. Let me sum up. Prince Humperdink is marry Buttercup in little less than half an hour... ;) Sorry, wrong summation.
Many of the R/F members gather at the main mead booth at 10:00am to say good morning, catch up with friends, show off garb/purchases, and just generally enjoy the company. It's a great place to see who's out and about and to set up meeting times for later in the day. It's also great for arranging meets with non R/F friends because you already know where you'll be at 10am every day!
*directions to mead booth* From the front gate walk straight in towards Bad Manor (big 2 story building). Veer just to the right of that building (NOT far right) and continue forward. You'll see privies, food booths and Foaming Stein (pop in to say hi to Muffin, Bacardi, Synnovea, Toarmod, Sitara, George, et al) on your left. Just a bit farther down you'll see the mead booth on your right side, next to a tent with cigars. MacGregor Games is just on your left (stop in and see Groomporter) If you get to the booth with the very bright flags, you've gone too far.
That sounds like a great idea! We'll make a concerted effort to be there at 10.
(Since we don't work out there, one would think it would be easy to make it to the 10 AM meet-up - but there are so many distractions!)
The 10A meade booth has basically turned into the 10a Fest Friends but I generally look over there to see if anyone is gathering so I'm all for the revival!
Fabulous idea!! Bacardi, Synn, Toar and I will all be on shift at 10, but this coming Saturday I do believe we have WAY WAY WAY too many peoples working so perhaps a few will be able to sneak away!! ;D
Heh... ... ... went there first day of Fest and it was a ghost town for R/F members. Will try to be there in the few days of Fest that are left.
Every Time I say we will be there by 10:00 am, we end up straggling in late. We shall try to be there. Making it there by 10:00 am can be a challenge when someone (my lovely wife for example....just saying) is not a morning person!...LoL
I have attempted to make the 10:00am meet time several mornings and found the place devoid of R/F peoples. However, I know what it feels like to be the only ones to show up to a faire's "meet time"; a little disapointing. (Right Leyla? ;))
See you at 10! ;D
I think the reason that the 10 am meeting has become a kinda "ghost town" is because so many R/F peeps work at 'fest now. Those of us who don't know where to find everyone who does so just drop by during the day sometime. There use to be a time when those of us who strolled the lanes outnumbered those who worked at 'Fest. Now the opposite is true. Now there seem to be only a handful of us strollers left.
Seriously, the Foaming Stein and breakfast beer has replaced the mead booth and breakfast mead for me, since so many who work at the Stein (and at Willins too) now, are the same peeps I use to meet at the mead booth just a couple of short years ago. I always wander by the mead booth after I've shot the chiot at the Stein for a while, but usually there are no familiar faces there. Even at Mac's I don't run into nearly as many R/F er's as I use too. Gin and I kinda make the loop from Stein to, mead booth, to Groomporters then by the chess board, Mac's and Fest Friends and on to Willins. Of course we have to wander by Lavigne sometime to say "hi" to Lauren and Anna too!...Having a banged up knee I have to say I like that little loop. It's easy for me to navigate and I don't have to wander all over the grounds to see every one I know!...
We will try to make the 10am Mead Booth whichever day we go.
We made opening day breakfast and had a great time. Not an early riser but it was great being there in the morning. Had the early morning dew thing going on.
A thought here...
Since we have so many working at Foaming... why not move our meeting place from Mead booth to Foaming Stein?

Hooray!!!!! Breakfast Beer!!! ;D
Had one every day we were there :)
OK, command decision here...
10:00am meeting location is now switched to Foaming Stein!!!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
Works for me!...
It will be easier for any who have not met us before to find too, since you can't miss Bacardi or George standing on their bench and yelling at you to buy beer!...

And hey, with the new mead tent, won't have to go out of the way before making it to Foaming if you DO prefer mead in the morning. And I DO prefer mead, I really, really do. Just not keen on the beer here. :D

If you are not seeing double.....you are ONLY seeing half of the fair!!! :o
I am sure it will be on Sun too Bob....
I check in there then!
Did anyone do this? I think I was at Foaming pretty close to 10 on Sunday and I didn't see anyone except Muffin, Bacardi and Sitara (working).
I completely forgot!! Hello?!?! Where was I??
Well, if anyone wants to meet up with a few newbies, my wife and I will be roaming around wondering where the booth is located...couldn't find it on the map we have.
So for the last weekend, Saturday we'll be in mundane clothes, but sunday we'll be sporting our new garb. But this is our first attempt...hopefully it turns out well.

YAY!!!
Okay to find Foaming Stein...
When you enter the main gate walk straight ahead, you will see a large building slightly off to the right, this building is called Bad Manor.. Keep to the right of Bad Manor and go down the lane.. You will pass Privies on your left, then wave hi to Tarac at his leather shop, keep going, keep going... You will see Foaming Stein on your left.. We are right next door to Chicken on a Stick (le barf.. :-X) if you hit the mead booth you have gone too far..
We are pretty much straight across from the Special Events pavillion and the joust track..
Clear as mud? Good.. See ya there! ;D
I wish it was my booth I am just a little shop monkey that is quiet as a mouse( NO COMMENTS FROM THE PEANUT GALLERY MAD JACK ;))
I'll certainly drop in! As soon as I get to the airport to catch my errr dragon ... I'm on vacation. SO I can actually ENJOTY mead and such!

Quiet? You? :D
You only said Mad Jack couldn't make comments. :P
Talk about the mouse that roared... :D
Quiet??.........Thanks for the morning laugh Tarac, I need that.. :D ;D
Aww, this post makes me a little sad....when we were down for the September long weekend we specifically went to the mead booth at 10:00am, and not only was it largely deserted (maybe 6 people?) but noone there recognized my badge or said hi! So we ended up goign on to other stuff and being a bit disappointed.
Opening day was fun - meeting for breakfast outside and then at the mead booth at 10:00.

Got it. With the weather looking bad, we hope to stay liquored up! Driving 10 hours on friday, will need to relax with some good brew on saturday. Is the beer locally brewed?
Some of the beer is local(ish).. At Foaming Stein we serve, Premium Grainbelt, Premium Grainbelt Light, Harp, Guinness and Schells Octoberfest.. YAY Beer!!
We are big Schells fans, here at the summer fair they have a German tent and they have original and dark on tap. Good times.
I'll have to try Grainbelt and the Octoberfest. Wife favorite is also Harps. Good to hear it's not just bud light on tap!
