Post by: bellevivre on September 28, 2009, 04:51:16 PM
Anyone ordered from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab? I want to try thier scents, but they seem SO expensive, and I dont want to blow money on a scent I dont like, even the samples seem expensive- suggestions?

I just rec'd Boo, Pumpkin V, & Bite Me & got six free imps.  It is pricey, but they do age wonderfully.  Except for Pirate & Halloween Saturdays, I'm not sure which days I'll be at TRF, but I can bring a couple of imps for you to sample if you'll be there.  If there is a limited edition scent you want to try, let me suggest you get at least one.  Also, you can go onto the forums for reviews.  I luvluvluv this stuff, but it was a solid year between orders for me.  My favorite open edition scent is Anne Bonney - gorgeous stuff.

EDIT - my favorite of the 3 ltd editions above - Pumpkin V; smells like Starbucks pumpkin latte & has good staying power.

Mmmm! Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte!  Hey, have you tried Gloria Jean's Pumpkin Spice coffee?  My wife and dau just brought some beans to me.  It is WONDERFUL!  I'm usually quite anti "flavored" coffee, but this stuff is great!

Butch, I was in Target w/a built-in SB's & they had a big sign announcing Pumpkin Spice Latte.  Haven't tried Gloria Jean's but they always do a good job of flavored coffees.

Taffy-

I ordered imps of: Ode on Melancholy, Seraphim, Arcana, Nephilim, Sophia,Tintagel

All mostly lavendary/flowery yet musky/sandalwoody scents... we shall see! What is the typical turn around time, do you find? I know on the website they say it's about 2-3 weeks before shipping, but I didnt know if that was a conservative estimate, and it can be faster...

That's about right.  The last set I ordered took a solid 3 weeks to come in.  Once you receive a shipped e-mail from them, look for your package w/in 2-3 days.  I cannot give these people enough R-E-S-P-E-C-T for their customer service.  I don't know what their policy on frimps (free imps) is when you are ordering imps.  You get two frimps w/each big bottle, which is a deal any way you look at it.

Frankly, the imps will last you a good long time.  I like to open my boxes of bottles & frimps just to get a good snootful of the smellerific wonderment.

I was collecting BPAL for a while but I've been weaning myself off of it and slowly parceling out the collection to various folks. I haven't bought anything new in a while so that means what I do have is nicely aged. :)

I'd probably stick with it but with recently buying a horse...well, my money stream has been diverted. ;)

Anyway, I can toss up a list of what I still have if anyone is interested.
