I think I may faint:

(And I just bought 20 yards in their *last* sale!)
you are evil, like the fru-its of the dev-il
*sigh*
Gem, you're an enabler, I can't even express why I'm sad that I have money in my bank account, and there are new colors... Yet still can't bring myself to make a purchase...
something told me to keep my husbands credit card with me tday.... :-\
you know, thats just mean of you.
I just went through my whole stash of friday and vowed I wouldn't buy anything else until I had turned at least half of it into something wearable or useable.
And then you do this.
I know! I completely don't need anything, either, but now I'm thinking I might just have to line Milord's Gimli tunic in linen, just on principle.
(Ok, I was thinking of doing it anyway, but one of the new colors looks perfect, and it's on sale, and sigh.)
Oh thank you, thank you! I was planning on making some new garb for Sherwood and this will be perfect!
Gem, Gem...
Don't make me do it. I've been so good lately.
But there are so many colors. And the price is so right.
I think I'll whimper softly in this corner for now.
*adds her whimpering to the rest*
So...many...pretty...colors!!!!
And I don't have any money right now! WAH!!! :(
*starts looking at the budget for Friday's paycheck and wondering if she can sneak a few extra dollars out of it*
OMG :o look at those prices. SOOOOOOOO resonable. I may have to buy some.
The great thing about Fabrics-store.com is the reward points you build up automatically with each purchase, *plus* the coupons that come in every order. After my 20-yard splurge this summer, I had enough reward points to get the linen damask for my corset for free.
Enabler. :)
Crap... (sigh) Now I guess I have to actually click the link, if the sale is that good... I was going to be so strong and superior! "Look at me, I can read this whole thread and still resist, because I'm not really an addict... I just like the pretty colors..."
Uh huh, sure... ::)
(click)
Not looking, Not looking... igh
Those are very pretty colors.
But I need to know, how soft is that linen? How heavy is it? Unfortunately no stores near me seem to carry linen so I can't compare the weights and textures and now what I would be buying online.
Aernn, guess what? They do FREE SWATCHES!!!
I actually find their linen (this linen in particular, the 5.3 oz medium weight) *incredibly* soft, particularly after three or four washes. Milord has never worn linen before, and I just made him a new shirt for our anniversary, and I was a little nervous, but he found it very comfortable, too! The dress in my avatar is the chocolate-softened 5.3 oz, and it's a great medium weight dress fabric.
Gem, can you tell me approximately what size the swatches are?
Um... not quite the size of a business card?
IIRC, they come stapled to a strip of paper with the swatch information printed behind them. I found it useful to get swatches in different weights as well as colors. The colors display *very* accurately on my monitor, but of course YMMV!
Thanks for the info! :)
OK, I've never ordered fabric online, so of course I am nervous....
I also am planning to make a kirtle and I do not have a pattern for it yet.
Approx. how many yards would I need for a kirtle? (if it makes a difference, I wear a dress size 22/24)
