Title: Masks?
Post by: McGuinness on September 29, 2009, 03:18:49 PM
Anyone have recommendations on where to get nice, period-appropriate masks (other than eBay)? I'm looking for the Columbian/Harlequin style masks (not the pattern necessarily, just the shape - tope half of the face across the eyes. I might be using the wrong term). I'd rather not get the ones sold at the faire, for both the uniqueness of them and the quality of the glitter-covered ones we have but I haven't been able to find many that aren't sequined MardiGras masks.

Any recommendations?

Try Dragon Wings.  They have beautiful period masks.  Here is a link to their mask section.  http://www.dragonwings.net/FeatherMasks.htm

Try also looking at Venetian Masks. In particular a Columbine style.

Also try Rogues to Riches. They do sell at Festivals, but all they colours and patterns are unique, also, the guys are always willing to do custom work for a reasonable price. The masks are leather and are quite durable as well. Good luck!
