With the Northern Shire wrapping up things, its finally time to start the countdown for 2010 in the Southern Shire.
Just -- hey? when are they posting the 2010 dates? -- days to go.
HUZZAH! Only a little less than 5 months to go... ;D
LOL...and we don't really know how many hours and minutes yet...
but anyway...HAZZAH!
(Just gotta tease you a bit Hector, 'cause we all know how long it usually takes for the faire website to update...perhaps we'l be lucky enough to get the inside scoop earlier this year.)
yes, they are notorious about that Anna. I do not wish for their inaction to delay our enthusiasm for another season.
Is everyone getting season passes again this year? I am sure that I will be. Who else?
I am definitely in on that Mickey. Is there a pool to guess this year's design?
The season pass is a bargain.....buy it! It usually pays for itself in a coupla weekends.
now if only we could get the enhanced version that includes the ale and cider.

I think that would be a FABULOUS idea, Hector. unfortunately, I think our group's libation purchases pay for the entire faire... :)
Miss you guys.
I can't wait to go and see everyone. See you at the festival in March. :)
Last year was my first faire, call me a late bloomer. But I HOPE to get season tickets this year for the family. It's what I am going to ask Santa for. ;D
I wish I could get the pass, alas BARF is a little over 4 hours away while our home faire is only 30 minutes away.
O how I do love BARF though.
We will definitely be coming up at least one weekend.
I was looking to find the website for BARF but it keeps sending me to a faire in minnesota ey
It will be great to see you both this season and no worries Auryn, I am sure the site will be up before the closing weekend.
Dates have been posted:
2010 Dates: Weekends, February 13 - March 28!
Thanks Fae! Outstanding to have the information so we can plan out each and every moment. Someone books the pubs!
Davens and I are looking to get season passes this year for Christmas or our birthdays... We're excited! Can't wait! We miss you guys!

BWAHAHAHAHA Florida Sunshine? Yeah, we've got it, darlin, but that doesn't mean the cold temps aren't here! Where I live (about 20 miles north of BARF) it was 27 when I left the house this morning. The next week isn't looking so warm either. They way things are going, we could have a COLD first weekend of BARF! Not that I mind!
By the time everybody comes in we should have the heat and humidity turned back on for ya'll. Be ready to sweat! :)

35 Days until Opening Cannon
That's just 5 weeks.
Are you getting excited yet? I can't help but notice the threads are quiet... considering the proximity of the Faire.
If it's 5 weeks to Opening Cannon, it's 9 weeks to St. Molden's Day
9 weeks
not 9 1/2 but 9!
This place should be buzzing...
Oh, well... just remember...
35 Days until Opening Cannon
Good Count, no worries on the quiet. We are just stockpiling energy for Gasparilla, H'town, and the return to Fiddles, Fittleswrong, Fittlerude, wherever.
Agreed. SO many things on my calendar to prepare for BEFORE BARF! Birthdays (McFukkers, mine(!), some others), weddings (The Goddess' and Duke's!), Gasparilla (YAY PIRATES) and the first birthday of my favorite pseudo-nephew. I think I have something every.single.week before BARF begins. And dealing with my step-dad still being in ICU makes me wonder what my faire schedule will actually be like this year.
*yawn* I can haz nap, plz?
Hurry up, Opening Day, hurry up! Cause the faster you get here, the faster I get on a plane to Tampa! ;D
Kate, I didn't know your step dad was in the hospital. I hope he's better soon.
Yes, Kate, still sending all the positive mojo I can your family's way!
But it is crazy all the stuff between now and BARF. Doesn't seem like a countdown as just a nice continuation of the next 6 weeks!/size]

Thank you, Anna and Mickey. Without going into too much, he and my mom were in a car accident on 12/15 and he was flown to Bayfront where he has been in ICU ever since with lung injuries that have sinced turned to pneumonia and sepsis, causing us to find out about additional health problems he'd never mentioned (heart, diabetes, kidneys, etc.) Fun stuff, huh?

well Captain, cannon is at 10:00. But I think 9:00 for arrival opening weekend sounds right to mine ears.
Mmmm, mimosas.....
Cannon is at 10 am, Seamus. Arrive at 11 and you'll miss it :p
Tailgate starts at 9 so I'll be there at... 8:30?
Much to plan still... much to plan
and just a month to do it
Agreed with 8:30 -9:00 AM arrival. *IF* I can get the other half moving that early. Otherwise he'll just have to meet me there because I'm not changing *MY* faire schedule for his slow butt! :)
We SERIOUSLY need to get on someone about Season Pass Holder preferred parking. Early arrival means parking on Fowler, practically.
I agree there should be some reversal of parking order. Fortunate for me as I always seem to arrive as the lot is filling and I get rock star parking, but unfair to those who arrive early and then have to hike in from the back fourty!
<--- has been guilty of saying she is dropping something off up front and parks closer. :-P
I think a preffered parking pass would be awesome idea for us pass holders! I hate having to truck up to the front with the kids, and/or going back because we forgot something in the car!

Actually I prefer pineapple juice, but I have this orange tree in the back yard that is full of juicy oranges just going to waste. ;D I hadn't hought about breakfast either, maybe I will pick up a box of danish's at Sam's.
So my hubby thinks he will be able to get his butt up early enough to join everyone ;D
So Hopefully I'll be able to meet everyone and if so I will bring some yummy muffins!
Jessi: Can we hook up a coffee pot to that converter? ;)
Well it is looking more and more like I might just be able to pull all of the ducks into a row and we would be able to get our booth at the fair this year. If that is the case, I will have to miss out on the parking lot as we will be SCRAMBLING to get everything set up (as we only have 3 days to pull it all together!)

Started "packing" last night since I'm staying at the BF's this weekend (he's right around the corner from faire!) and MAN do I have a lot of stuff. I'm so excited though! If only I can make it through the rest of this week!
I have to work 6-6 all week. I am gonna be so tired!! I have to get the kids to get thier outfits together and I have not had time to finish making my own top. Don't know what top I will wear. But can't wait to meet everyone!! ;D
Been on site setting up new tent....... we like MANY other vendors have been moved around... 8)
So... Meet and Greet to sign in and get yer hugs....giggle... still at Things from Rings booth....we are now more in the middle of the lane...
The tent is now a 12x12 cream and burgundy tall tent!!!! For those that are new there is an R/F banner hanging in the front.... under a big yellow flag with a red griffon on it!~
Awesome, I was about to ask where the sign is was located. ;D
OK, so, I have to get up early in order to get ready and bake cinammon-raisin foccaccia and drive two hours to get there in time for the opening day tailgate at 8:30-9 ...
It'll be worth it ...
Look for a giant pink "pirate princess" flag in the parking lot. That'll be us!
Cinnamon raison foccaccia. OMG YUM!
By the way, did anyone catch the weather forecast for Tampa for opening day?
High of 54, low of 39.
I realize for folks coming from northern regions, that may not sound bad. But here in Florida we refer to that as YEAH-RIGHT-LIKE-I'M-GONNA-GO-OUTSIDE-IN-THAT weather. :o

HOLY GAWDS! MUST FIND GLOVES.
Guys wearing kilts for Highland Fling weekend may wanna reconsider and call them skirts! Don't freeze your goodies off, boys! They're how you keep your lady warm later! *whoops* Wench mouth! :-P
Now this is why I need a cloak...*mutters*
Stay warm, my friends!
I realize that you don't experience TRF on Closing Weekend where its rainy and the high is around 45 if you're lucky.
Lotsa layers, even our kilted lads, cloaks, warm hats, and stay in the sunshine!
Ya'll better warm up by the time St. Moldens comes around, I'm tired of cold and snow! :D

Yeah, well, if Peterson gets low attendance, he has only himself to blame for bumping it up a week.
I'll refrain from name calling but this was about the most half-arsed thing I have ever seen. Everyone knows February sucks.
Oh, and why hasn't the website been updated?
Twig is not at our faire, I don't care to see Twig and I'm tired of looking at her picture.
So why can't we have a website that is exclusively OURS?
And no idea who the entertainment is. Guess we find out when we get there.
Frankly, I think Seamus will be the best entertainment we have.
Here's the broadsheet for this weekend. Glad to see Cantiga wil be with us again this year. Also Emrys..it's not Fiddlesworth..Fittleworth...without hearing RATSHOW yelled across the village. For Love or Money will be there...Jim Hancock..love his show... Manolette and his balls....:)
No Kings Sing? I love hearing our good King sing! :(

For those of you who don't have a warm cloak, consider picking up some polar fleece from Joanns or Walmart. It's pretty cheap and won't require any sewing. If you have any pieces leftover bring them along to faire. I guarantee you'll find some poor freezing soul in peasant garb to pass it along to.
Stay warm and have fun all. :)

Seamus ALWAYS serves as good entertainment!!
I'm bummed about no Empty Hats (Boo, hisss) but they'll be at Skipper's in March.
Oh I'm so excited! No way I will get through this day without giggling constantly. My students already think I'm nuts!!
King Sings will be in place next weekend. Lots of other stuff he's doing this weekend made it most difficukt to schedule...
OMG... less than 19 hours before morning meeting. Lots to do still, so I'm getting back to work

I just noticed that. No scheduled times...just "all day". I thought they were at AZRF too.

Ok I have a little concern with tommorrow. I have never been to this site when it has rained. Does it get very muddy there? With all this rain and the cold I'm sure its not gonna dry up over night.Just wonderin how dirty I need to expect to get ;)
I'm thinking that with all the mulch they usually put down, there should be few muddy areas and a whole lot less dust than there normally is. In short, I think the rain today is a good thing.
A couple of years ago, they were towing people out of the parking lot after they'd gotten stuck in all the mud.
EDIT: From what I've heard, the grounds are "trucks-getting-stuck" muddy.
Just think it is now just 12 hours till opening cannon!!!
And I'm as sick as a dog... ::) :(
Don't forget to dress warm for tomorrow and take lots of pictures for the ones that can't be there! ;D

Well, it was a good day in all. Me, my bf, and 4 girls. We arrived about 930 and left at 5. The girls were done. I met a few R/F people, sorry I don't remember everyone's name. It was indeed cold, but not unbearable. We may go back tomorrow, but without the young ones. ;D

Get on down here! It was 40' this AM at tailgate, and even the scotch had a hard time penetrating the cold. But the tailgate was a success, and we met friends new and old. There was even some food left over! From what I understand, we had less than 2000 thru the gate today.
On the other hand, I've been to Akron at this time of year...
Ah, but we went shopping, Seamus! ;)
OMG! Wenchi, your hat is just gorgeous!
She sent me some pictures! That hat was just waiting for her!
Seamus convinced me with a ' Wenchie, you really ROCK that hat!'
And now I can carry my lunch to work for the next two months....

Peek-churs! Peek-churs!
I wanna see photos of Wenchies new hat!!! :D
I'm hoping someone got pictures of the Ranger's new hat on Sunday. Not the Saturday hat, that one I have and will be posting after a bit.
Wenchie's new hat is gorgeous, Leinad's new hat is smexy (and Antiquing is goofy!), it was cold 9oh shush you Northerners -- we all moved to FL because it was supposed to be WARM!).
Tailgate was fab, I'm always carrying a bagel in my purse (Rose Nyland says HI!), and, as always, WHAT HAPPENS AT FAIRE ENDS UP ON YOUTUBE.
Love you all and so glad I got to see some of my favorite people this weekend. Now to make it through another week. *sigh* Is it Saturday yet?
*faceplants on her desk* Zzzzzzzzz
How is it that I kept moving almost the entire time from opening cannon to about 3, and saw virtually no one after the tailgate?
We went to see the Chess Match at 3:30, and afterward I realized I should have kept moving. I started to shiver uncontrollably. I got a cup of coffee and stood in the sun, and managed to warm back up, but that was enough for us.
Knew I should've worn my wool pirate coat over my kilt.

I thought it warmed up quite a bit for most of the day, but started to get cold again around 4. Strange the timing of that no?
I actually got sunburn from seeking the sun most of the day! I haven't been sunburned in these temperatures since I lived up north.

Well, I apologize for being late to tailgate. :(
I am sorry I was not in attendance on Sunday. Saturday evening I had a slight accident at home
and was laid up in bed all day Sunday. I still am not up to par, but expect to be there this weekend!
It was great meeting everyone new and seeing everyone again.
I'm sorry we missed tailgate :'( I could not get us out of the house timely, we were too cold and wanted to stay undercovers lonnger! But we did get there at opening time at least! Unfortunatly I didn't get to meet any one so hopefully this Satuday I will run into a few people other then Squire Mickey and his Kilt ;) But really congrats on the kilt competition Mickey!
Oh no, Lady D! Hope you're okay! Sunday was weird... all the people I was waiting to see weren't there!
And we were tailgating until half past ten so if you were there for opening you could have made tailgate! LOL
Time to start planning THIS weekend!
8:30, you know the place. Who is bringing what?!?!?!
I gotta bag of frozen kit kats with ya'lls name on 'em!
We will be there this Saturday but not planning on getting there till closer to 12:30. I will have the whole family this time so its even harder to get every one out the door and also means more money spent on food so we plan to eat prior. This way we can stay till closing and the wee little one wont be too crabby.
Who is planning on going on the Friday? We are going with out kids since its a school day for them and taking off work ourselves. This way we can get a little sillier with our beer and attend the queens tea. Anyone planning for tailgating that day?

Alright tailgaters... what's the plan for this weekend?
Who's bringing an extra bagel for me? :)
So for someone who has never done tailgating before, how does that work?
We all show up to the parking lot between 8:30-9 AM. Parking will be along with far fence (basically as soon as you turn in). When Seamus gets there on time we actually have a table. Bring something yummy to share! We goof off in the parking lot until Cannon and then wander in!
Hope to see you tomorrow!
I'll try to make it! I have to drive from Orlando, but that shouldn't be too bad. Does it happen both days?
Aye, will it be going on on Sunday? I have stogies and stout at the Dunedin Brewery Saturday...
Yes, we're usually tailgating on Sundays, albeit a bit more slow, a bit hungover, and a bit achey. :)
Looks like pancakes and sausage from us tomorrow AM! YUM!
They allow flame in the parking lot, I mean can we bring a grill?
i should hopefully be bringing something both day so huzzah for me contributing lol i just don't know what yet maybe just something to drink idk maybe coffee or soda maybe some other drynk i don't know quite yet...
I won't be making it to tailgating today, but I'm going to try for tomorrow!

Sad news.... The newest group to grace our presence at faire, The Bawdy Boys, will be missing one weekend of BARF -- St. Molden's Day weekend. :( They're just so much fun and I'm bummed that we don't get to share them with you all!
Lady D -- are you going to be ready next Saturday to continue our "game"?? :D :D :D :D
I am so ready KATE!!

Gotta say, I'm not sure what contract issues there were. They were offered a contract, and we even spoke to them on the phone... then nothing. Next thing we knew they were doing AZ. They were shceduled because we honestly thought that through our conversation they were coming. Have tried to call them since with no response or return call. Maybe AZ offered more money and they decided to take that contract. I understand them taking a more lucrative contract, but since we were talking to them, the nice professional thing to do would at least been to inform us.

Terribly clever writing Hector. Perhaps you might explain what it is you are actually saying? I don't personally care for those inside jokes and code speak that friends here sometime use. Let us all in on the amusement you have planned at faire this season.
..and then there's the not so clever .... ::)
It's clear some of you have forgotton how to go to faire and just have fun, unless it means your clique or clan against another. Sad what you all are turning faire into.
