Title: Magnolia Cops
Post by: ravic on October 07, 2009, 10:58:36 PM
Info I trust from another board...........

Seems that the Magnolia cops are once again targeting all things Rennie. They have a new police chief who wants to make a good impression. AND they now have a red light camera at the main intersection by the railroad tracks.

Let's be careful out there.

Kinda like the army towns that used to arrest anybody with a short haircut. Now that the post has closed, there's not much town left.

Thanks for the heads up.
Also, anyone coming down 45 from DFW, keep your eyes out, the interstate was pretty thick with cops.
Especially coming into Huntsville.

If you're coming in from the Austin area, beware of Brenham.  I got caught in the net there on my way back from Meow Manor a couple of weeks ago.

I've worked in this area for the past 9 years so here's my $0.02

Red light cameras-State has already said all revenues that excede operational expenses go to trauma hospitals. So City's really don't make as much $'s off these as they once did (dangnubbit).

Cities and counties are hurting in the tax revenue department right now. With TRF being such a big draw to the town they'd be foolish to "target" the folks that bring such large amounts of money in. I'd think they'd be wise in looking out for the safety of the folks just wanting to have fun and targeting the trouble-makers regardless of their garb.

DPS (State Troopers) could care less about city revenues or garb so they'll be out there in force I think.

And if stopped. Everyone keeps hands in sight. Shut-off engine and be resepctful. Attitude just brings attitude. They're just doing they're job.

My son used to live out in that area & always reminds me to make sure my tags are current, my lights are working, to keep to the speed limit (& they have a couple of places where the limit drops a lot & it's easy to miss the sign), and obey every traffic law ever thought of.  He knows from cold hard experience that you'll get popped for any little thing out there.

the speed limit will drop from 60 to 50 to 35 in a 2 mile span... then go back up, then down.  Grimes County Sheriffs will be out helping the Magnolia PD.

And make sure that any weapons are in the trunk inaccessible & out of sight. If they want to find something to hassle you with no point in tempting them further. Having a roadside "discussion" with a small town cop regarding reenactment carrying rules is normally unproductive.

Yep, always watch out for those quick changes in speed.  Being locals we're used to it, but 105 can be tricky to newbs.
