Title: Lost and Found- 09' Season
Post by: eloquentXI on October 12, 2009, 11:24:31 AM
Thought I'd go ahead and get this started just in case anyone lost anything either out at camp or inside faire.

I had one of my strands of boot bells fall off of my boot on Saturday. They are brass looking bells tied to a purple braided rope.

I was lucky that some friends of mine managed to pick up my RF pin while wandering around as mine fell off of my pouch.

Anyways-

Lose something?
Found something?

Heres the place to post it!

My friend Linda lost a Sony Cybershot camera, silver in color. She thinks she left it on a bench outside one of the privies, but it was gone when they went back to look. This was about 5 pm on Saturday. She checked with lost and found on her way out no luck. If anyone can help, let me know.

Well I lost my scarf belly dancing Sat night at one of places we visited, BUT when we went back to look for it, I found it!!!!  It was such a wonderful blessing!!  I loved that scarf, it has some of my best memories attached to it and also enjoy it tons!

The Hubby lost his cane!
Normally he walks to the privy, thus insuring he has his cane when he returns to his "Wondrous horseless carage" (many may have tried to speak to him about this magic) I am the one behind him telling you he is deaf.
Anyway this year he rode into and of course out of the privies, he thinks he may have left it there.
Description: A sturdy stick with a wooden knob.
Yes, I know not much to go by.
Anyway if this is the worst, so be it.

Just got back from TRF.  I've been searching high and low, but seem to have left my camera and black/red box I was carrying it in while dragging my drunken mom's carcass to our car after the fireworks.  If anyone has seen it, I'll be returning to faire on All Hallow's weekend.  I'd really like to retrieve the pics on it.  :(

Also, we just discovered mom lost a large silver handmade bracelet with settings I made her many years ago in college.  This has got to be the most expensive weekend for us.

- But, I should add that even though our losses were big for us, we had a great time.  That's why we didn't notice things were lost 'til now.  :)

Assuming the items weren't picked up and carried home by another patron, anything found on the grounds by the grounds keepers is stored up at the main office.  It never hurts to give them a call.

My lost Iris & Rose CD never showed up, but don't let that discourage you (o:

I was hoping there might be a "lost and found" somewhere in the faire.  Never thought to try calling.  Thank you for the advice.  I'll definitely try that.

Hey there, Blue!  Our intentions were to stop by McLotofus on Friday night to say "hi".  We made it as far as the drum circle.  Unfortunately, our attention spans just can't compete with all the distraction.  :)  Saturday night plans were dashed when the "babysitter" barely made it back to camp after faire and passed out.  (We made a last minute detour to the King's Feast where she imbibed a bit too much sangria.)  Look for Samedi and I to make it over there All Hallow's weekend for sure.  If it were my funnel cake, I'd have been happy to share it with you. :)

my virtue disappeared at faire years ago, still don't miss it.  Actually my wife lost her purse about 11 years ago and the faire mailed it to us about a week later when all else failed and I called down to check.  Money and all credit cards were in tact.

I tried calling TRF "lost and found", but they haven't receive the bracelet or the camera/box.  Bummer.  I will try in person this weekend.

I realize this is a shot in the dark, and I'm pretty sure we will never see it again.  But, just in case, I thought I'd post a description of what mom's bracelet looked like.  It's one-of-a-kind, pretty large and hard to miss.  There is a rather large sun stone in the center setting.  I forgot what the other stones are.  But, the bracelet resembles scales and some are textured.  It makes clicking rattling noises when worn.

I don't have a pic of it, but I managed to draw up what it kinda looks like.  It's about actual size.

So please, if anyone sees it somewhere, my mom is really feeling down about losing it.  I told her not to worry about it.  It's just a material thing, but she feels bad because it was a gift and it's sentimental to her.

When I lose my inhibitions, they're usually returned to me slightly coated in shame and disgrace.

Well, leave it to me to lose something.
My RF pin fell off on Saturday afternoon while I was herding cats for the group shot after the parade, somewhere in front of the Prince of Wales, over under the umbrellas and under the tree that everyone was at for the photo.
It's an unpainted, traditional RF pin.
If anyone found one in the area, please let me know!  :(

I, well no, My Daughter, lost her pink sash to her Frock Shop dress.  I retraced our steps from the chain maille show to the coffee shop but it was already picked up and gone.  Fortunately, I believe those little sashes are easily replaceable.  Unlike an RF pin.  Sorry to hear that Meg.

I seem to have been cursed with an infestation of nargles or something this season.  I must have been leaving trails of my belongings behind me everywhere that I walked.  :)  I lost two rings in one day of faire.  Thanks to sweet little camp mates with eagle eyes, I was relieved to get one back.  Still haven't heard anything about the camera or mom's bracelet.

Meg, sorry to hear about the pin.  I DID see it on you when we were admiring your steampunk outfits just before the cat herding, if that helps.

i did loose my wooden mug sunday. Actually it was stolen...... i placed on top of the stall wall in br near sea devil, and after wrestling my skirts and bells in porper position to stay dry, i noted a hand reach up, snag my mug and then left with it. I was too busy taking care of mother nature to respond fast enough....... ah well, the skirts stayed dry.

That majorly sucks - they don't exactly give those things away.  Last year at the Sea Devil, I was sitting facing the stage w/my mug - having just bought it from Knarly Knot - behind me.  I happened to reach for it at about the time some punk kid was reaching - er, admiring - it.

Shoot, Meg, that's awful.  I hope you can get a replacement soon.

I actually did lose something on pirate weekend, I lost an Irish 1 Punt (pound) coin off the bottom of my tankard, no idea where.

It's a silver coin about the size of the current US dollar coin, with a Irish harp, Eire, and 1990 on one side, and a Stag and £1 on the other.

I've already replaced it with a more firmly attached Pingin (penny) from my stash, But in the very unlikely event you find it, lemme know!

I was dumb enough to leave my cane/walking stick/spyglass at the PoW Saturday. Wood, with brass top which unscrews into a small spyglass. By the time I realized and went back, it was gone.

No more walking aids for me, i just leave them places and that helps no one (well other then the people that pick them up LOL)!

I lost the jewelers loups off my goggles on AHE, probably before I even got past the gate.  They have some mech-y looking cirle things glued to them.

My accessories seem to be all dying at once, like light bulbs.  My pistol lost 1/2 its cocking mechanism and my pewter stein top broke off during Pirate weekend.

If anyone finds my self-respect or dignity, could you please return it to the Foundry? It may be with my liver somewhere. Um, it's shriveled and full of holes and burn marks.

*On a serious note though, I lost a charm from my Tiffany bracelet. It's a tiny locket that has NAUGHTY on one side and NICE on the other. It means a lot to me, so if anyone comes across it, please let me know. The damn thing came unhinged from my bracelet.

That happened to me twice last year...luckily the second time I saw the people walking away.  Being a hawker I just yelled, "Going to show my beautiful mug to your parents?" and when they turned around all I did was point to the cops standing behind me.

I've never seen teenagers run that fast to RETURN something they stole

I have lost 2 little rats and a piggie ... they were additional pets to my german farm I have going on...
ALSO a group member, Fritz Von Bron ( Wayne) had a real / small colorful German stein with a flip lid and he left it on a bench in Germany before parade... needless to say it is gone.

I don't understand a person's need to pick up something that is not theirs and take it! It boggles my mind!

You could explain someone stealing it because it was something nice.  I lost my shoulder rest between the Dove Meadow and Castle stages running between sets.  I noticed it missing before I even got back to the Castle Stage and retraced my steps, but it was already gone.  What in the hell would someone do with what is basically a pillow with a strap on it?  I just figured someone threw it away.

That's so true... I just DON"T understand "ground scores"... why are people not honest anymore and turn things into lost and found.  My friend found a cell phone last weekend and we kept it with us and then answered it when it rang.  We then were able to meet up with the guy who'd lost it that evening and return it.  We were going to turn it into lost and found, but it rang before we had a chance...  THIS is what people should be doing for one another, this is fairemily love!!!!

So, I lost my daughter's binkey in camp before laying her down to bed... those of you that have children may know how important the binkey is when trying to get a good nights rest. There were probably 15 of us searching frantically for a binkey on a leash. I had to find that particular binkey for two reasons- she only likes Avent brand & that binkey has a mouse on it. It's too adorable! Mousie and Mini Mouse! That binkey goes with her mouse costume too! The camp looked like a UFO was about to land with all of the flashlights scanning the ground. We went back and forth from Brigadoon to Valhalla and had no luck. I was going up to everyone who came into camp asking "Have you seen my binkey?" One of the officers looked at me like I was some crazed addict looking for my stash. After a few hours of looking we all decided some raver kid must have picked it up thinking how cool it was that this pacifier had a leash. It's for my kid! Even after the battle of getting her to sleep I still kept looking. I'm sorry the mom in me wasn't about to give up!

My friend's went to a wedding in Magnolia that evening and picked up two new binkeys. Well Reign is absolutely spoiled and like I said only likes one brand of binkey, so that night was a battle to get her to bed again. The next morning my friend walks up and pulls the binkey out of his pocket... he said he found it next to the fire pit we had all looked by two nights prior! LOL! I think he had it in his pocket the whole time and didn't want to admit it, lol! I don't know, but the gremlin binkey thieves didn't get it this time!

Anyway, just thought I would share the binkey catastrophe!

Lady Mousie...I feel your pain. My son used to be the same way...only one type of paci, and Lord & LAdy help you if you could not find it...I at one time had somewhere in the area of 10 of that specific paci...2 in the diaper bag, 2 at home, 2 in my purse, 2 in car and 2 at my Mom's...Luckily one day he just broke himself from the paci habit and hasn't used one since...TheLadyKat's son has inherited them (or most of them anyway...the ones I could find) ;D

Soooo... AHE Sunday I somehow lost my cellphone when the little pouch I carry it in came unclipped from my belt pouch strap, and as soon as I realized it (about an hour or so later) Grov called it from his phone, and lo and behold, who should answer but... BLUE!!!  Seems that someone found it and turned it in to Lost & Found, who proceeded to call the last number dialed, which was Seamus in Florida, who in turn called Blue and had her go pick it up... talk about 6 degrees of separation... ROFL  We went and found her by the foundry to pick up the phone, where she then introduced my daughter to deep fried PB&J sammiches...  Thanks, Blue, for everything...  ;)  :D  And thank you Seamus, for thinking quickly... saved me a big pain in the... wallet!  :P

I also lost a pretty cool Pirate favor, all in gold charms, with a skull, sword and an anchor all attached to a ships wheel, with a red and a blue bead connecting a couple of the charms to the wheel.  It was the last one I had left, and it was supposed to be my daughter's, so if anyone came across it she'd love to have it back...

I found 1 cell phone opening weekend, and called "mom" who asked me not to turn it in to lost and found because she could still get hold of the group and have them meet me to get it back.  Couple of minutes later, got a call and coordinated pickup.  Working conventions, I've made it a habit to call either "mom" or "dad" in the phone (or last number if those aren't listed) to let them know where to pick up found phones.

Had one person try to accuse me of stealing their mug Highland Fling - it was on a bench after everybody had left Odeon and was taking it to lost and found when they caught up with me (about 200 feet from lost and found).

Maybe I'm just a "do-gooder", since I also turned in 4 ticket scalpers over the season.

Wish that had happened to me.  I lost a phone the same way and never got it back. :(

That's such a shame!  It might have been because mine was a cheap prepaid worth nothing, and hardly even had any minutes left on it...  LOL  It would be nice to think that people only have the best of intentions, but sadly that's just not always the case...
