Other than the even grreater...ummm... rear violation... that drink prices are at TRF, anyone but me notice that the merchants prices seemed significantly lower than expected?
Example- i got a great pair of doeskin and fox mittens for $40, and a perfect carved walnut walking stick for $45... both of these items i wouldve estimated at at least $20 more!
Anyone else got any input? i know it's likely due to the economic state, and the desire to keep mundanes buying, I was just- pleasantly suprised, as well as a bit concerned for my favourite vendors...
A lot of folks are cutting prices a bit to try and sell. It's a catch-22: the worse the economy gets, the more people will come to faire, both as a get-away-from-it-all and a staycation in place of going to, say, Disneyland/world. However, it also means people will spend less, so prices have to drop to increase sales if we want a chance in Tarterus of making ANY money. This is where folks retailing mass-produced goods get hammered, unfortunately, since they have a smaller profit margin than most craftsfolks.
I know we dropped prices to move product. Our attitude is better to sell it and make a little money than for it to sit there and make none at all.
Now if only Moresca would come down a bit. Dern!
