Title: Question about camping time check-in?

Okay, I'm a little confused and I hope you guys can help!

On the TRF website it says that the earliest time to check in at the campsite is on Friday, but I've seen lots of people mentioning being there on Thursday...am I missing something? Or am I just crazy? ::)

Noon Thursday used to be the earliest you could arrive, but I dunno if they changed it.

Hmmm...Now I'm thoroughly confused. I guess I just have to show up and see what happens. Sleeping in car for 1 night wouldn't be so bad I guess...Might deplete the majority of my alchohol stocks if that happens though ;D

The official time to open access to the campground is noon on Friday.
It seems that sometimes the traffic backup onto the hiway becomes a safety concern and so the gates get opened somewhat earlier on occasion.
There, now that I've toed the official line I'll say that I've been there as early as 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and never found the gate closed. The unofficial story is that it opens at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

I see Z did the CYOA statement - I'll tell ya what security told me opening weekend (Keep in mind that Lord and Master George can change his mind at any time) "The gates will be open on Thursdays." No mention of closing weekend Wednesday.

He did not tell me what time. The earliest report I received opening weekend was 5pm. I do not know if anyone was able to get in any earlier.

Oh, its nearly impossible to figure it ALL out on your first trip. But once you get that first camping weekend under your belt, you'll be an ole pro at it. Be sure to stop by the Procrastination camp and say howdy. We camp across the road from Phoenix and around the corner from McLotofus, right behind Chaos. Halloween weekend you will find us hidden behind the great big RV with dolphins on it.
