Our workplace goes all out. You should see our building, with almost 300 people, in different teams, with all the teams choosing themes and decorating to the hilt based on the theme they have chosen.
Our team chose American Idol. Now I don't even watch TV, so I had no idea how to dress or who the people are (yes, I have heard of Simon who's nasty and Paula, who isn't there anymore, but that's it). I couldn't name 1 of the contestants if I tried.
So I had to laugh when one of the young gals announced, "Renee can wear her red Renaissance dress and be Stevie Nicks."
Mind you, they tell me she's never been on the show, but since they have celebrity guests, she COULD be on it sometime. So tomorrow Stevie Nicks will drive 40 minutes to Dubuque, Iowa and work as a Customer Service Rep for the day. lol ;D
I got a costume from party city, its supposed to be medusa, but there isn't really anything that says why... it's just a black "crushed velvet" greek style dress that is slit up one side with see through sleeve "wings" but I got my specially fitted vamp teeth to go with it, so I'ma be a greek vampiress
I don't know what to do this year! Tonight at the caf, they had the yearly Halloween dinner, and I wore my garb, but I couldn't even stay for the costume contest, since I had to run off for my wig call for Sweeney Todd. I debated about dressing up tomorrow for class, but I don't really know if anyone else plans to. And then on Sat, I have a 2pm and an 8pm show of Sweeney... So I'm bummed. Because Halloween is my favorite holiday!
I have plenty of garb... no where to wear it to, just at home. If it isn't raining/snowing again, I will be sitting out on my patio, in case any kids come over. My grandaughters are wearing their garb, I know.
I wore a mini witch hat with my normal work uniform tonight. I got lots of smiles. lol
I'll be a pirate for Halloween Saturday at CRF.
I've got a party at my sister-in-laws tomorrow. Since there will be a bunch of kids at the beginning I think I will go as a pirate so as not to traumatize them with a bloody zombie.
Ya beat me to the punch! Lol. I finally decided what I'm gonna be & got some of it yesterday: I was gonna be the swine flu but all the pig snouts were gone in the places I went to (go figure), however, I did find a cow snout & a chicken snout so I was debating weither to go as the bird flu or mad cow disease...I chose mad cow so I got the cow snout, I'm gonna paint my face white w/black cow spots, then I'm gonna put red spots & blood trickling down the sides of my mouth & carry a box of tissues. I still need the ears w/horns & maybe a tail so I'm hoping I get lucky & find those today...
I work in the OR...but my Elf-self woke up and I went to work with my ears on...One of "my" surgeons had to go get his camera. I'm waiting for the pic, but the responses were great!
Here it is the day before Halloween and the school district I work refuses to let us dress up...so I, being the rebel that I am, decided to wear a special headband that just happens to have kitty cat ears attached :)
As for tomorrow, I still have not decided...my son is only 1 so I am not really taking him for major trick or treating, just a couple friends houses, so it will probably be something very simple...he is going to wear his Pirate costume though...unless it gets cold, then he will wear his Bat hoodie
Tomorrow night, I'm going to an open mike poetry event at a local Barnes and Noble. Originally, I was going to dress as a pirate to go along with the poem I'm going to read. BUT, I'm now seriously thinking about going as Lieutenant Hagen Luke, United World Flying Corps. He pilots a Besler Arabian, the finest steam-powered, propeller-driven attacker ship in the world in the War, begun in 1895, against the remnants of the merciless invaders from Mars. After destroying his family and turning his world into a smoking battlefield, Luke lives for the day when the slimy "octoes" are utterly eliminated. He grew up reading "adventure poetry" like "The Charge of the Light Brigade" by Alfred, Lord Tennyson and "Paul Rever's Ride" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and "The Derelict" by Young E. Allison. It would seem quite appropriate for this daredevil to read "A Tale From Devil's Tavern"! Of course, I'll have to check the flying schedule to make sure that I'm free for the evening . . .
Mundane....... :P
I'm going to be a Phoenix so I can show off and use my new tattoo as part of my costume!!
I bought a really pretty red slinky dress, pinned a red feather boa on the bottom and feathers on the top. Then I spray painted white angel wings pink and yellow and hot glue gunned red feathers along the edges. I'll be wearing yellow leggings, yellow shoes, red long gloves, a yellow beak, and a bunch of feathers in my hair along with pinned in fake colored red and orange hair strands. It should be pretty rockin'! I'll post a pic or two after this weekend.
We're going to a big party downtown at the natural science museum with a live band, costume contest, food, and a magician show...
At TRF: Daphne Dreadnaught, Dame of the British Empire, Lady Adventurer!
Then rush home to hand out treats as Professor Severus Snape, Gentleman Educator!
Hubby's at TRF this weekend and I'm staying in! But today at work I'm a fairy!!! it's pretty darn interesting to wear a corset and wings and sit in a cubicle...
Thinking if I go to the party I've been invited to tomorrow night I'll wear the Raven!Fairy outfit.
Thinking for work I should go grab my jingly Moresca coat that's still sitting in the car from MDRF and wear it.
I'm thinking I might have to Steam Punk it while providing escort for some wee ones
Steampunk Airship Pirate!
...assuming I can get everything sewed up tonight. I suppose I can always finish it tomorrow morning if I really need to...
For work see picture.

I won the costume contest for single person last year with my renfaire pirate outfit so figure i had to out do it today.
Mostly I plan on being Tipsey. :)
I've been distrated by so much else these past few weeks I didn't put anything together, but I have so much stuff tucked away I can always did through tomorrow and come up with something fun/silly to wear. That's what we always did as kids...just dug through what we had and made something up. In a pinch I always have Zombie to fall back on
Happy Halloween everyone. :)
Sir Garath... I can definitely see how you won... HOT!! Hehe.... Ok just very very hilarious! U have balls...
I will post pictures of me with the president of the school board and the superintendent. Oh and i did win again so that is two years straight.
I just want to know who did your hair?? I've tried for years, and can't get my hair into pigtails that are decently straight!! lol
Today, I wore my short cape with my regular theatre blacks for class.
But tomorrow, I've decided I'm going as a pirate. I was finally able to pick up the shoes I've been eyeing from Avenue http://www.avenue.com/womens/plus-size/815458050-eliza-buckled-shootie-wide-width-plus-size.html (http://www.avenue.com/womens/plus-size/815458050-eliza-buckled-shootie-wide-width-plus-size.html). With it, I'm wearing my cotton chemise, a black vest, black slacks, cuffed up to my calves, and red and black knee highs that I cut from the tights at Walmart (one size does not fit all!) And of course, my pirate hat! I figure it's an easy costume to do for my 2hrs between Sweeney performances tomorrow.
Tired!!! Our homecoming is today, so I've been working on floats for the parade like a madwoman. Homecoming events all day then headed to faire.

Brilliant! No luck finding the cow ears btw... >:(
My mother-in-law works nights, and her city has trick-or-treating on the 30th, so I go over to decorate the yard and hand out candy for her. For that, I wear all black and my black cloak with the hood up. Looks pretty sinister with the fog machine going and Night on Bald Mountain playing in the background.
For the parties I'm going to tonight, it'll be ren-wear, of course. I'll be wearing my pirate garb, and my wife will be in gypsy mode.

He he, I did that yesterday...I found the wings actually fit right through the sides of the chair well enough that I didn't notice them much! Sadly, "Slappy the Bad Attitude Fairy" is not nephew-approved, so I'll be sportin' my pirate garb tonight....which kinda feels like not "dressing up" in a costume at all....he he he, the rennie version of staying "mundane" for Halloween! :D :D :D
..........SteamPunk Vampire............
I'll be dressed as a writer annoyed with getting interrupted yet again to give brats candy. ;D
my wife and i went out as alice and the mad hatter.
I did a dress rehearsal for my garbing for Hoggetowne: bloomers, chemise, cotehardie, circlet, belt, pouch, mug, etc. Looked pretty spiffy, so that was a confidence boost toward going medieval in Jan.

you're simply too young to be lacking sleep!
Funny story that day.
I am an RA at GMU... we have the dreaded "duty phone" when some fool gets locked out at 8:55am, after I've been up till 2am doing rounds of the building, and up till 5am chatting on aim and facebook "doing homework" the RA with the duty phone gets to go let them in. Somehow in letting this person in, my card got demagnetized or something else equally horrible, and thus I was locked out until one of the other RA's was available to make me a temporary Key Card, and I could go to the card office to get a new one. then I had a party that night that lasted till 5am...
generally it is schoolwork keeping me up, I work best after 1am...

Well I certainly hope I never out grow it! It's funny I keep thinking of my career choices as "what I want to be when I grow up" lol
Don't know if someone started this tread already or not, but I'm interested in seeing what people did for halloween. To start it all off, here's my darling McKayla in her fairy costume. We recycled her infant faire wings, and made hair ties to match them. The dress was a birthday gift that she hasn't really had any reason to wear (not much occasion for dressing up lately). She seemed to really enjoy running around playing photoshoot with mommy, even though we barely trick or treated (she's only two, I'm sure the priorities will shift later, hehe).

English Major, concentrating in Folklore and Mythology, I'll either teach with it or look into University Administration, which is a step up from RA and leads into working with housing or advising and such.

groovy. good that you have a good idea where you want to go. any time work includes housing, that can be a good thing. one of the clubs in DC i was a chef at, provided me with a house in the club's village. i didnt take it. but it was a great thing.
