Novemberish, 2006; during a boring time on the computer, I was doing another computer search to figure out who a constant photo subject from numerious TRF visits was. Up to then, very few had seen my RenFest pics and most of those few were in my inner circle. Finally id'd them by name, did more searching, found out they were on myspace, and started up an account ....... and the ripples reached out from there.

with facebook, you will never get it, understand it, or enjoy it until you get lots of friends to talk with on there. i hated it with a passion at first, found it totally boring. then as i friended more and more people and had conversations going with multiple people, it fascinated me more and more. i have had many friends with the same experience.
anyways, i found out i hated myspace based on getting my account hacked into by some jackass and they emailed people, the barrage of porn invites almost daily, people that friend you all the time you dont know, the backgrounds are so busy on some peoples pages, you cannot focus, the loud music on some peoples pages, to hell with it. i gave up.

When you're composing a message, you should see three rows of Icons above the text entry box - two that are square buttons, and one row of "smileys". I found it to be just the opposite. I tried Myspace, but I didn't like the interface and most people's pages are too "frantic" to be viewed comfortably. Besides the founder, I've got just one friend - LiveIreland.com (streaming music from Dublin).
Facebook presents a simple looking page for everyone, and the interface, while not perfect, is fairly straight forward.

WOW! That font makes the verbiage difficult to read (for me, at least).
Yeah... not to be critical, Lady Mercedes, but Butch is right. Some fonts are just not effective for web use. Old English style fonts would probably be okay as a header (in a larger type size), but as general text, it's really difficult and a lot of work to read.
Sans serif style fonts (Arial, Swiss, etc.) are generally considered the easiest on the eyes. Yeah, it gets boring, but if you use good layout design and colours, you can more than make up for it. I'm one of those people who can recognize a good-looking design, but I can't come up with one for the life of me!
