I'm looking for some wench garb. I like being a noble but every once in a while my wenchy side wants to show it self too. I already have a green and black leather bodice and now I need to finish the look.

Any help will appreciated.

The Tudor Shoppe has good, affordable basic pieces for a wench ensemble.

Also check out Ebay, you can find a number of items there as well.

A 6 or 8 gore skirt couldn't be easier to make & can be hiked up over a petticoat.  A leather belt holding your accoutrements - pouch, mug, etc.  A chemise w/some cleavage also says "wench".  A straw hat or floral headpiece - something simple.  Wenching is all in the attitude, baby!

My Sister Wench speaks the truth with that statement!!   ;D

However - along with the attitude, you do need the clothes:  I make my skirts (as Taffy said, they are easy to do) but I buy my bodices from here:  http://www.fantasycostume.net/renaissance/

There are several sellers of bodices on Ebay, just make sure they have enough (and good enough) boning to do the job.

I like Moresca's bodices - epecially the Pirate model makes your waist look teensy.  Their site is down, but a call would probably get pictures e-mailed to you.

I know this is the garb section but, most of the purchased skirts cost more than $40.00 and I can attest you can make 4- 6 to 8 gore skirts with the same amount of money!  Here is a link on how to create a 6 gore skirt for yourself easily and quickly!  All you do is make the long measurement to the floor plus hem up which I put in 3".  This would be an easy way for you to dip into garb making!!

I am sure you could go to Joann's during the 99 cent sale on patterns and pick up a gore skirt and then look at all of the awesome cottons they have I would suggest some cotton twill or broadcloth.  They wash out really well and hold the colors!  With your black/green bodice I would say you are a Fall or Winter colored person. So winter has rich jewel tones and falls have those lovely rusts and maroons and golds, so they would look fabulous.

I second the "make it yourself" suggestion.  Sewing the simple things isn't as hard as you think and will save you a lot of money, especially if you want several of each piece.  ;)
I use McCalls 4090 for the skirt.
As you sew you will learn and be able to start on harder projects.  I taught myself how to make breeches this past weekend! (Simplicity 4059)  ;D
