I could use a little help with trying to figure out just what to wear on my head with my garb or if I should even wear anything.
At this point I'm not even sure what I am dressed like anymore... I started out shooting for the Woodsman/ Archer/ Forester look...
but then I didn't feel like carrying around an unstrung longbow... accidently knocking things off of shelves and smacking small children in the noggin'
Without the "Tristan" shirt under the Jerkin I look more Medieval than Renaissance... I think.
With the Shirt underneath...  I don't know...   I'm just not sure what or who I'm trying to portray.
I also wear a natural linen Ren Shirt with the same Buckskin Pants and one of two pairs of Ren Boots... no pic of this though.

Thoughts and/or Suggestions please...   help me...

I don't have a hat suggestion but you look yummy to me.   Uh, I mean your garb looks casual but good.  Yes, that's what I mean.  ;)
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

;D Thanks MG   for All of your Help...   ::)   LOL  ;)

Maybe a simple leather head band?  Robin Hood pointed hat, or that could be too cliche!  A rustic beret/small mushroom cap style might look nice.  I think even a cavalier hat would go well, perhaps in cloth or soft leather so it is a bit floppier.

with the shirt, I'd say maybe a cavalier hat...something with a BIG feather plume...

without the shirt, I don't think you need any headgear....looks more rugged, and your hair works well with that look

Agree w/everyone--you look pretty sharp as is; just start trying hats until you find some you like! (Notice the plural! Hats! Multiple!) Your garb's not H/A, so it doesn't matter what you pick, as long as you look good.  ;D

(Without the shirt you look fine, but it's definitely more of a fantasy look. People in the Middle Ages didn't wear their arms bare.)

As much as I'm a hat fanatic, I have to admit the "sans shirt/sans hat" look works really well on you.  When you add the shirt....I agree that the Robin Hood style of hat would look good, or a flat cap - those go with pretty much anything and can be dressed up or down easily to fit the outfit.

With your facial shape and broad shoulders, I think I'd look for brimmed hats, even if the brim is very small.  I think it'd give a very nice frame for your face, and would balance your silhouette (fancy way of saying it would avoid the "biiiig shoulders...ittybitty head!"  look, hehe!)

A flat cap would do nicely in a soft leather with Pheasant feathers.  The Duke of Buckingham looks fine too in the Bronze colored doublet I did for him 2 years ago.

I'm in the no shirt/no hat, shirt/flat cap camp myself.

You look excellent in both versions.

Thank You all for the hat suggestions  ;D
No matter what hat I decide to go with now, it's going to be a bit more expensive...
What with all of the compliments from all of you beautiful ladies  ;)

Add mine to the mix... I mean, geez, could you troll for compliments with any better photos at all?!?  Full frontal AND a decent tush shot all at once!  :o  :D

Oh, wait... don't I recall reading that you are attached rather permanently?  (sigh)  Oh, well... great pics, anyway!  ;)

Ummm, I think what I meant to say was...  I think a nice braided leather band would look appropriate with the sans-shirt look, but I was distracted.  :P

I'm thinking feathers... Possibly a small bonnet similar to the one Garzia de' Medici wore, with feathers at the side? I've seen something similar in a funky portrait of Ippolito da Porto, here:

A decadent beige or green feather arrangement to a bonnet would be cool. A better view can be seen in this gigantic wall fresco from Villa Caldogno, where the lute playing man wears a bonnet with feathers:

The Medici bonnet I'm talking about can be seen here (scroll down):

That said, I agree with others - you don't really NEED a hat to look good...  ;)
