i am currently reading The Scar by China Mielville

Set in the fictional world of Bas-Lag, this steampunk novel tells the tale of Armada, a floating city of pirates built atop the bones of boats that have been press ganged, shanghaied over over centuries. The city is filled with races from all over, Vampir (more of a disease than a race, vampirism is a bactrial infection), The Cactae (plant people covered in spines), the Kephri (beautiful female scholars with a scarab heads who communicate by emitting scents) and many more. Magic meets science, Myth becomes reality, It is truly amazing.

it is one of those books that is soooo well written it just transports you there.

I'll tell you
i swap books online sometimes i get one that doesn't smell so nice
i can't read it if it smells horrible
so how do i wash something that i can't wash?
gallon ziploc bag
take and place a dryer sheet inside each cover and in the middle of the book place the book in the ziploc bag and place a dryer sheet on top of it and under it. Zip it up and leave it for a week. you should have a wonderful smelling book and have washed what can't be washed

Sir Ironhead

Almost done with "The Eye of the World" debating on whether to go onto book 2 or something a bit lighter.  Don't have any smelly books but going to have to try that trick just out of curiosity.

Sir Iron, once you start you just can't stop, I will warn you.  I will also warn you that clothing descriptions will increase exponentially.  But the story is a good one. :)

It's time for me to pick up a book again, after I finish with this hat of mine.  I think I'm going to jump to my next Patricia Briggs book in the Mercy Thompson series.  I definitely haven't been reading enough lately.

Lady Rebecca

Just started reading How to Train Your Dragon, the book on which the movie is based. Though, so far, I'm about 5 chapters in, and it's nothing like the movie (which I love). I hope the book improves!

However, it will probably be interrupted tomorrow, since I will finally be able to get my hands on the latest Bloody Jack Adventure novel. I'm so excited!

ravic

Dresden Files. Just finished "Turn Coat" this afternoon.

Eyeballing the never-shrinking book pile to see what's percolated to the surface.

Butch

My wife reads the Dresden Files books too, ravic!
