If you're into Italian style, and/or wanna see surviving garments from the 16th century, have a look:

MALE CLOTHES:

FEMALE CLOTHES:

The main collections are the Medici clothes from Florence, the vast amount of burial clothes at San Domenico Maggiore in Naples, plus a couple of garments from the della Rovere family in Urbino.

OOOOHHhH!!!  Me loves this gown a lot....

You know what you did, Opera???  Gave me some great ideas for a new gown for the fall! ;D

Great detail on this gown with the use of trims. I have a lovely cotton Brocade, Black backrgond with period floral print in a  variety of muted colors and tarnished gold embroidered Dupioni Silk that would work nicely for an Italian gown like this or do it in a  Solid color with fancy trims.

People, I'm glad you like the clothes and the pages, but...

Hotlinking makes me really cranky. It drains my bandwidth, and worst case it means my site goes offline. Now two pictures has already been hotlinked here, though I expressively begged in the bottom of each page that you shouldn't do that. :(

What hotlinking is? It is putting IMG tags around other people's JPG-files, instead of storing the file yourself. It means my bandwidth is used each time someone visits this topic, and that other people use my bandwidth against my will.

Giving direct links is OK. Then the picture isn't loaded every time someone visits this topic. But hotlinking is bad.

The first hotlink has been removed because I changed the original picture into something silly. But the shirt picture is still my link. Could you please upload it on your own server? Or I would have to change the picture into something even sillier... Like Seinfeld's Puffy shirt.  ;D

Wow. Didn't know that there were still site hosts that were that limiting on bandwidth. My current host has no limit, and is only $7 a month.  If you're concerned with hot-linking, you should be able to go into your site's control panel and disable it.  If not, set up an .htaccess record in your root directory.

Sorry for the thread diversion, but sounded like you needed help...

Oh!  This is fabulous!

The child's dress is amazing and I kinda like that fabric.  The Crimson Pisa dress is a lovely find and all those pics have gone on my hard drive for reference.  Thanks!

Thanks, Merlin, that could help our operafantomet, whose posts I enjoy so much.  I believe her location is Norway; I am not familiar with bandwidth, etc. there.

*computer analyst hat on*

Your physical location doesn't deal with bandwidth other the speed of your connection.  Your website hosting server can be in any location - I believe operafantomet's hosting service is in the USA- but it depends on the host's capacity for multiple hits against it's server or servers.   So, imagine that you do take a picture from her site and post it here - well, not only is it getting viewed at her site -ie, getting hits there against it- it's also getting viewed here by multiple people at once.  The host will perceive this as a possible Denial of Service a not allow any hits against it -essentially.

All understood, Isabella, and although I doubt the "moderate" traffic on this forum shouldn't cause a problem, if the image was then again posted to another site, it can add up.  The blocking of hotlinking at the server is the easiest solution.
