I thought this might be of interest to folks in the area:
http://www.facebook.com/events/127648640710408/Historic Interpretations is holding a costume exchange/sale on Saturday, August 18th, in Raleigh NC. From the FB event page:
* Ask our experts about your period clothing and accessories! Are they correct for use in our time periods?
If they are off a bit, can they be adjusted to better fit the time periods until I can make/buy the correct versions?
* Sit in on short workshops/poster sessions on various costuming subjects!
A schedule will be posted on the website closer to the Exchange date.
* Bring costume-related items to Exchange!
Have costume items that are too big? Too small? Not authentic enough for your newest character? Are you moving into a different time period?
Costume Exchange rules:
* Pre-register for the Exchange at
http://tinyurl.com/cv9o9mm* The exchange is open to anyone, not just HI members and volunteers.
* Price and tag your items. HI will not price items for you! No price, no Exchange.
* Clothes must be on hangars and tagged with exchanger's name / size / price of the item.
* Bring items and an inventory list to the church, between 10 am and noon on Exchange day. Items will not be accepted after Noon.
* If you cannot drop off your items during the 10 to noon time frame, contact Lucy to arrange for an earlier drop off time/place (
ringland55@gmail.com).
* The Exchange will begin promptly at 1 pm. HI will provide racks and tables, collect money from purchasers and keep track of your sales.
* Items will be placed on racks by type and time period, and where noted, by size.
* Oversized items and those items unsuitable for hanging will be arranged on tables by type of item and time period.
* HI will receive 20% of your sales as a donation to pay for the setup costs of the Exchange.
* Pick up or donate your un-exchanged items at the end of the day. Anything left will be donated to Goodwill.
