Lady Isabella

WANT the lace collar Bess is wearing KateXXXXXX, How will you be making it?

LadyStitch

Here are some of my most recent projects.  The Fuzzlet out grew her little pink pirate outfit and needed a new one. Also the other Flamingo brother FINALLY was able to make it into town for TRF this year.  He has his new doublet on.  I will get better pictures of the Fuzzlet as soon as I can.  BTW the Fuzzlet won 2nd place at best dressed (junior) pirate contest.  We are going to upgrade her outfit, and hopefully try again next year.  ;)

LadyStitch,

She is absolutely adorable peeking out from under her hat.  If Daddy gets any prouder, he's going to explode!

Awww... how cute!  By next year she'll be running around brandishing her pistol, and she'll steal the show!  :)

Well... I have FINALLY started the Nomad Cloak... but I'm having to sort of guess as to the overall shape of the hood, since I don't have an actual pattern for it.  I may go ahead and use the pointed hood portion of Simplicity 5794, though, since that's the closest I have to the hood shape in the Nomad photo.  I've cut the outer fashion fabric, and will cut the lining tomorrow evening.  I still haven't been able to settle on trim for it... but I have so many in my stash to choose from that it could end up being the most difficult part of the whole project!  lol

Well her "Uncle" had way too much fun with her over the weekend.  He hadn't seen her since she was 10 weeks old, and had a blast playing uncle.

We are thinking of adding a belt, maybe a tankard, maybe a pistol.  We are thinking of adding some sort of embroidery or beading on the jacket.  Her da da says she needs more lace.  between the lace petticoat, lace cuffs and lace cravat I don't know where else to put it!

I have been working all day on putting together another Captain Teague Pirate Coat for a 4X client in Ohio. I had to basically redraft the coat body  based on the client's measurements and pattern pieces in an illustration.

The  fabric for the coat is a Burgundy Decorator weight Brocade. All the hand sewing took over a week to do in between Alterations and fighting a cold . The lining is ready to be pinned and sewn. Then more finishing up handsewing, then the Buttons..

Thanks guys!! The lining is pinned onto the coat and ready for me to sew. Tomorrow I have a ton of Alterations to do before Friday. Then I can finish the Teague Coat while I am up at my daughter's over the weekend.

The ruff to a Chemise I received an Order for. I have Elizabeth putting together the main body as I do the Collar and Cuffs. The Customer requested no lace. So this is what I came up with instead.

Oh, my goodness!  Lady K, that ruff is gorgeous!!!  The blackwork is fabulous!  Is that handwork, or a stitch on your machine?  Either way, it's simply lovely...

I have acquired the batting for quilting my Nomad cloak, and chosen the 2nd side pieces... however, I have decided to make it reversible, so instead of a "lining" I am using more fashion fabric.... in a patchwork.  This means more than one fabric.  Luckily, I have some truly beautiful (and really LARGE) samples to work with, which will compliment the solid orange on the other side... so this project just became MUCH more complicated... of course.  It also means there is MATH... AND the patches have to be square because the "cloak" shape is on the diagonal, making it basically a squared-off diamond.

Why do I do this to myself?

Oh, yes... I have also cut the pieces for my daughter's new pixie point skirt, to go with her new Moresca Fairy bodice!

I have to brag just a little...  :D  A friend found a BRAND NEW, NEVER WORN red/maroon medium Moresca Fairy bodice on Ebay that wasn't marked as a Moresca... it was just listed as a fantasy Fairy bodice... and I was able to get it for under $50, including shipping!!!  Unfortunately... it was several inches too small for my daughter, (because that particular style of bodice seems to run freakishly small, compared to their others)... so I listed it for trade (for another Moresca Fairy) in some of the Ren Garb "buy/sell/trade" groups I'm in on the book of faces... and found a large, also new(ish... worn only a very few times, in perfect condition) mauve/dark purple-ish-shot-with-gold-thread Fairy bodice that fits her like a DREAM!  We traded straight across, and now my daughter has THE ONE BODICE that I've wanted every since the very first time I ever saw one!  LOL  Of course, she has absolutely NOTHING purple/mauve... so this Monday we went to Hancock's Veteran's Day Sale, armed with their 50% off coupon, and a Michael's 25% off ENTIRE PURCHASE coupon (yes, Hancock's will take competitors coupons, and so will Michael's)... and found a bronze and a mauve taffeta for a pixie point skirt, and a buttery soft lavender satin for a new chemise.  Of course, we don't have Faire until spring... but we've got a wedding/mini-Con this Sat., and I am hoping to be finished enough that she can wear her new pretties then.  The skirt won't be hemmed, but I'm planning on hand-rolling the hem, anyway, and that takes ages, so I'm not going to worry about it.

Oh, yes... can't recall if I mentioned this, but I ALSO signed up with Craftsy... the online crafting tutorial site... and bought the Beginning Serger class... so hopefully one of these DAYS (instead of months or years) I will be able to sit down and start learning how to use that darn thing... and then the sky's the limit!  In, y'know, my own imagination, at least...

Thank you, Rani!

The stitching is machine done. My Janome Memory Craft 4900 has over 100 different decorative stiches that I like to use when making Elizabethan Chemises, and other stuff. Decorative stitching adds a nice touch to most anything.

What I want is an actual embroidery machine. But they run over $3,000 on sale. It depends on the brand and what all it does.
