The halloween fabric isn't on sale, but I walked away with some great "costumey" fabrics a month ago. I had to use my 40% off coupon to get a sale on it but they had it. A clerk told me they start putting out Halloween and Thanksgiving ish fabric in June, and then Christmas in July right after the 4th because crafters have to get wares ready for the labor day craft shows. If you want to see Fall style items you are going to have to be able to get the supplies much earlier.

I had no idea, but it makes sense to put out holiday supplies way before the holiday to give crafters time to use them for the holiday...As soon as I get the supplies check I'm gonna make a mad dash for neon orange fabric...hopefully there will be something good with halloween stuff

Ariel, if you can't find fluorescent orange satin, you might try silk. Silk Baron has a lot of VERY BRIGHT oranges, like this gorgeous dupioni:

Here's an extremely neon orange satin, but it's also extremely expensive... although they also have some silks listed on the same page, in the same color, that are fairly reasonable. For some reason it doesn't show the actual fabric, though, and that always makes me a bit nervous...

I thought parachutes *were* made of silk (or maybe I'm still living in a different century!).

It's on the loom being woven at this point, so it's not technically sewing *yet*, but eventually I'll stitch it up and make it into a bag. (taken from my phone, so not the best resolution...still looking for that camera!)

'WERE": being the operative word... I think they were last made of silk in the 60's. Now made of a similar weight of rip-stop nylon. I have a couple of ex Paratroop regiment canopies in the loft. Of course!

So I got inspired by Valencia's "Bonanza" Dress. We have a fundraiser coming up in September and the theme is "the old west". I had no idea what fabric I was gonna use, just knew I wanted some type of "saloon girl" dress. I used what was left over from Kendyl's court gown. (Her's is all cut out, waiting to be sewed together.) I had just enough to make it work. I found some buttons and fabric roses at wally world on sale. Lace and gimp trim I already had from previous projects. I'm using Sim0584 bodice pattern. I still need to add the grommets and make a modesty panel. I'll be using Laughing Moon Pattern #105 for the Drape Front and Bustle Back Overskirt.
