Poltergeist - Amazingly scary when you think about the setting and the idea of a normal family who finds themeselves in that situation.
I still love to watch my mom's favorite movie - The Uninvited.  But, my favorite scary movie of all time and the one that still gives me chills - the original The Haunting.  Shirley Jackson was a genius; perfect story, perfect cast, and it's in black and white.

By the way, any chance for an appearance at a booksigning at TRF on Pirate Weekend?  I'd love to ahve you ladies (Rani and Taffy) sitting at a table, pen in hand, to sign books . . . ?

Which day, hon?
Sveethot!

Well, Taffy just reminded me of Shaun of the Dead, and I can't recall if it's been posted here before or not... and of course since this thread was started there has been...  Zombieland!!!

Zombieland... :D Love the rules. "Rule number 1: Cardio. Rule number 2: Beware of Bathrooms".....

I'm *always* a sucker for zombie flicks.  :)

It's almost time again for me to find a corn maze and run about pretending I'm being chased by Malachi.  :D

I soooo want to do the maize/maze this year!!!  My renlet loves mazes, but she's only been in one made of fabric panels, so this year I'd like to take her out to the real thing.  We WON'T be watching Children of the Corn first, however...  :P  ::)

Gaaaah...  I can't even watch the trailer for it!!!  Darn you, Anna!!!  Now I'll have Malachi nightmares...  :o

(I suppose that was payback for the Peep porn, huh?)

October 23-24, Pirate Weekend.  I'll be set up where I was last year, thanks to our friend Ravic!, and hawking books and CDs.

Anna, the "Rules" had me practically rolling in the isles the whole movie!  The scene on the rooftop with the Purell hand sanitizer is still one of the funniest lines I've ever heard, also!  :D

Yes, Taffy, please come visit. Same time, same place as last year... a stone's throw from the meet & greet. Rani, please drop by AHE.

Blackbead, you are absolutely right about The Haunting.

The 7 Faces of Dr Lao
Caltiki
The Illusionist

The last is more of a murder mystery. Tis still a very well done period piece.

It has been so long since I've seen The 7 Faces of Dr Lao.  Love that movie!

On to the list (only going to mention stuff that hasn't been said yet)

The Mothman Prophecies-Very awesome psychological thriller.  I can't say enough about how much this movie freaked me out.
Arachnophobia-I couldn't sit on the toilet without checking it out completely first when I was younger.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers-Classic who is good and who is bad thriller.
Jaws-The movie that single handed shut down the beaches for years.
The Omen-Congratulations!  It's an antichrist!
Bedknobs and Broomsticks-I love the end of the movie when she animates all of the armor.

Those are just a few of my suggestions if you haven't seen them.

KeeperoftheBar

I liked "The Changeling" with George C. Scott.  No gore, little blood, great suspense.  Kind of like old Hitchcock movies.  They scare you, not shock you.

Sleepy Hollow 1999.
hands down....
Aurum peccamenes multifariam texit
Marquesa de Trives
Portrait Goddess

Merlin the Elder

I can't believe someone actually mentioned Caltiki. I used to love watching that one on TV when I was younger. It's probably not as good as I recall though. The original Halloween is a classic.

I love getting the %$#@ scared out of me! But I also like the horror-comedies... Bruce Campbell's trilogy, Shaun of the Dead, Young Frankenstein, etc.
