M'CRACK FAMILY
The M'Crack are an eclectic group. Mainly from Irish origin, the M'Crack are family none-the-less. Through thick and thin, they love each other and care for one another very much. Clan M’Crack, was established in order to promote camaraderie between friends and to aid in the recognition of our bond to each other IN our dedication and appreciation of renaissance faires.

THE HISTORY OF CLAN M'CRACK
Herein find ye the history of the most notorious Clan M'Crack.
The Texas Renaissance Festival was just into its '96 season, when the events that inspired the Clan M'Crack took place. A group of friends, some of who had met at the inaugural season of Hawkwood Fantasy Faire, journeyed together to the aforementioned Texas Renaissance Festival, to enjoy the faire and see friends working the festival. It was the weekend of October the 19th in that year.
They met behind The Coin Mint and Foundry to prepare a hearty stew and to share brews and news. While they sat around the camp, eating and drinking, a Tecate can became the object of the affections of Curley, a rabbit hand puppet and sometimes alter-ego of one of the more twisted members of the group. During dinner, a very young Lady Bree, remarked," I see your butt crack, you really should cover that up". It seems that HooDoo, the Rogue Irishman, was sporting a rather remarkable "plumbers crack", the cause of the precocious three year olds announcement. HooDoo, ignoring it all, kept right on eating as if nothing had happened.
Once the moment had passed (or so he thought) he stood up, tucking his shirt so far down the back of his pants, to secure his "butt crack" from further viewing, that he had to split the front of it just to breath. As the night wore on and the wee ones were laid to rest, HooDoo, much to his dismay became the butt of every one's jokes. But it was all in good-natured fun, for these were friends. By the next day, the news of Bree's comment had made the rounds, and friends who had been too polite (i.e. sober) the night before to make mention of the "plumbers crack" quickly made up for the missed opportunity and the jokes and puns abounded.
Later that Sunday, the group gathered to caravan home, and as so many other families have gotten their start, the Clan M'Crack was conceived in the back of a van.
By the time the newly formed clan reached their destination, a Highe Lairde Cheekton had been selected. Yes, you guessed it, the Irishman with the plumber's crack, and members had begun selecting names. Kissin', Smootchin', and Stuffin', are but a few examples. Curley became the clan mascot and most of the male members sport a rabbit sporran.
Clansmen and clanswomen can be identified by their hunter green or black Irish kilts and/or sashes, as well as the clan badge, with the clan motto, "Oscular Meus Fissura (Kiss My Crack).
The youngsters aren't forgotten, after all it was a three-year-old who inspired the whole thing. The Clan M'Crack has a children's group, the "Wild Hares", whose badges sport a rampant bunny with the motto "Lepus Runnamucus".
The purpose of the Clan M'Crack is to have fun, particularly at the faires and festivals, but we also get together for off-faire happenings of our own design. We regularly frequent Scarborough Renaissance Faire in the spring, Hawkwood Fantasy Faire in the late summer, and take the occasional road trip to Texas Renaissance Festival in the fall
(though we seem to be taking more and more road trips).
Originally penned by Lady Doin' M'Crack (Rhonda Hays), wife of the Clan Highe Prieste (Father Stuffin' M'Crack) Stephen Hays. Without Lady Doin's constant, unwavering, diligence in the keeping and updating of the clan records, at the beginning throws of our growth, we would not have the clan records system we do today. HUZZAH ! ! !
Any variation from the original draft of the clan history is due to editorialization in the part of HooDoo, Patriarch of this Clan.
Since the above was originally penned, the Clan has grown. With the Clan expanding to two chapters in Texas; Clan Byrne (Bastrop/Austin Area) and Clan Cara (Dallas/Fort Worth Area).

The clansmen of the East Coast M'Crack wear the solid black, solid green or saffron kilt and the colors of the Clan are black, hunter green, white and saffron and should be the predominant colors for M'Crack garb. If you have true Ancestry, then your family colors are permitted. Members who are actors, gamers, vendors and women may wear required attire. (i.e. wench or court or pirate) M’Crack colors are always preferred which are black, white, hunter green.. We ask that all members try to wear the M'Crack garb as well as the Clan pin at official M'Crack gatherings or the first day of a M'Crack invasion of a faire. Curly is still the Mascot for the M'Crack's and many of the east cost M'Crack's honor him by wearing a bit of rabbit fur or a rabbit's foot somewhere on their garb.
Attendance is a must to belong, or why join? The east coast year begins on M'Crack Weekend at BARF. An active member is required to attend at least two official Clan M'Crack Gatherings a year.
