LOL  I'm only fond of fruit teas, iced OR hot, and not the regular caffeinated teas like everyone else in the south drinks.  I'm guessing the Gypsies will have hot teas, though... since they will be reading the leaves afterward.  Hmmm... not sure how that would work with a fruit tea... but most of them are herbal, anyway.  Hopefully they will have something I like!

Accuweather is now showing 69 as the high both days for AHE. I hope that holds true.

Well, ladies... the King was kind enough to post a contact number for the Blue Moon Tea Room, so we can make reservations, if we like... although they are also happy to serve walk-in customers, as well.  I'll call tomorrow and see if I can get some info about prices, to see if it fits into our budget, and post what I find out here, so we can make plans, one way or another!  :)

Trying to call the Gypsies, but they seem to be having trouble with their lines of communication.  Ah, well.. I'll keep trying!

Only two weeks for all you lucky folks who get to be there for Opening weekend!!!  I'm soooo RENvious!!!

Ok, soooo... modified to update Gypsy Tea info:

Just got a call back from them, and their price per person is...  $35!!!  :o  :o  :o

This price includes various foods from around the festival, tea and a reading at the end... but still!  It's over 1/3 of what the King's Feast costs!!!  That's WAAAAAY outside our budget plans!!!  I guess we won't be doing this anytime soon.

Yeah... that's what I thought!  I wonder if they do a Tea that doesn't include the reading... and how much that would be?  Guess I could ask, huh?

Our Faire (OKRF, or the Castle of Muskogee) has a Queen's Tea, and it only costs $8 per person.  Of course, their Pirate's Feast (equivalent of the King's Feast) is only $34.95 pp... so everything is way less expensive up here.  Our Faire is only about 1/6 the size of TRF, also... but still!  They also have a Boare's Head Feast around Thanksgiving that is the same price... and the Royal Luncheon is only $20.  To be fair, though, I have no idea if it's an all-you-can-eat affair... and they don't include all-you-can-drink, either (except the Queen's Tea, of course)... so I'm sure there are a LOT of people who will get their money's worth just in booze, alone.  But I'm just not ABLE to drink like that... and of course, Scally is only 12... so, until TRF offers a reasonable price for the meal without the alcohol, it's all just going to be out of our reach.

Particularly after spending around $300 just on the gas to get down there!  :o

I did the Kings Feast once... It was pretty good and that 99 bucks includes a gate pass & mug.  Is it worth it?  There's a reason I only did it once...  ;)  lol

Yeah... I can imagine.  I mean, the menu sounds pretty impressive, and I understand it's all you can eat AND drink... and I definitely know some people who could put away a couple of hundred bucks worth of beer or wine in a 2 hour sitting... still, that's a LOT of money to drop on a dinner... especially if you're not even getting, well, uhhh... REALLY friendly with someone afterward!   8)  ;D

Yeah... I would much rather enjoy the day with friends, and save the real partying for evening, after an amazing dinner in camp, with Loki and oh, maybe a little Apfelkorn to share with good friends...  :)  I'm definitely bringing a big stock pot and a couple of gallons of apple cider and spices this year, so we can have something warm to chase (or mix) the booze with away the cold!  LOL

Finally doing it for the first time myself during Pirate weekend. 2 hours, all I can drink? Yeah, the ticket will pay for itself.  8)
On a long enough time line, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

For the feast when I did it, one of my friends would bring in a gallon zip lock bags and put as much meat as she could.  And I and a friend would share drinks.  I'd have them pour a glass of sangria for me and him and in out mugs we'd ask for beer...he'd drink the beer I'd drink the wine. After asking for 2 refills with in 10 minutes on both they set a pitcher of sangia next to me and a pitcher of beer next to him.  Yeah...we got our money's worth that day.   ;D

But for those that are thinking about the feast, think of it this way.  If you buy at the gate it's $26...if you could buy the mug at the gate it'd probably cost about $30.  So in reaility you're getting a 5 course all-you-can-eat-and-drink meal for $44.  That's not all that unreasonable as I know some pleaces around here that you'd have to pay that or more for a 5 course meal that's not all-you-can-eat.

Well... if you can afford to pay $44 for a meal, no matter how many courses.  And I also couldn't afford $30 for a mug.  I'm really excited that they have a Family 4 Pack of tickets for $44, or else we'd be hunting free tickets!  Still going to have to make a few things to sell while we''re down there, and try to sell some things up here, to be able to afford the trip.

I would love to be able to attend the King's Feast someday... but it's not going to happen on my income, that's for sure.  The only reason we're even able to afford the gas money to get down there and back this year is because I managed to hold onto some of the insurance payout for our car, instead of getting it painted and the scratches buffed out.  If we lived down there it might be different, since we wouldn't have to pay $300 just to GET there, before we pay for anything else at all.  It's ok, though... we're going to have an AMAZING time while we're there, no matter what we do!  :D
