Not a topic of Interest per say..but let it be known that I love this forum..and am very saddened that in the 9 years I have been going to faire, I had to ride out the days from closing doors to opening boom unaware that I could immerse myself back in the people and spirit of TRF and not have to endure. certain, shall we say...upstart festivals just to feed the habit. Thank you so much all of you who makes faire and this forum what it is

I know exacting what you mean. You get to have fair all year around and keep in touch with all the friends you make.
Don't forget to smell the roses, but watch out for the thorns!

I am so very proud and honored to know you all and to be a small part of this community.

The knowledge and kindness present in this community truly humbles me.  And inspires me to reach up a little higher and reach out a little farther.

I think of what life would be like without faire would be like and I shudder.

Also, the mead they sell in faire...is it recommendable? If so, is it sold only in the one place or do other places in faire pervey it, and is one better than the other? . I am a HUGE fan of Chaucer's Mead, if that gives anyone a good starting idea.

I know that most of the major liquor stores in the Fort Worth/Arlington area carry Chaucer's.   Personally, I much prefer Chaucer's over, say, Scarborough's mead, but I've enjoyed several meads at various festivals I've attended that are as good or better than Chaucer's, and I will pass Chaucer's up for Bunratty's any day.

There is a homebrew/wine making shop in arlington called Dr. Jekkels that sells several flavors of chauncers mead.
May your cup never be empty, and your tent always be upwind of the privy.

Sounds like a plan...I don't mind order out if i have too..but I was going to try my hand and palette at Loki's Revenge...I have found the "secret" recipe online, even on this forum, saying that it was THE original, but I know to take that stuff with a grain of salt, even if they do have Loki festivals and competitions all over...I can't seem to find any good flavoured Loki recipes though...talk of them, but no measurements or details, just I did this flavour and what not. Can anyone enlighten me on that? If no, I understand the need for a secret to be kept close to the vest, I won't hold it against ya..

Sometimes you just have to wing it.  Start with the "original" and modify to your tastes.

You didn't hear this from me - but take a little notepad and pencil with you to the loki judging.  Many brewers of Loki are so proud of their concoction that they will let slip little tid bits of the process.  Just be ready to scribble when they do - Shhhhhh

Mouse they serve Chaucers at TRF, I know I find it in the bellydancing area...can not remember what that area is called just know how to get there.  My favorite is Redstone Mead...I fill my flask and bring it in.

If you look at this thread and follow the links, you will find how to adjust the original loki to other flavors.  Good Luck!
