As a fellow vegetarian, that's an awesome idea.  I love the look of fur and leather but the though of it being an animal...So I'm constantly at odds with myself.  Now I have a replacement idea.

Using faux fur to make a Zibellini is a very cool idea. Huzzah!!!

As a vegetarian, I have been grossed out by, and yet have still desired to own, a Zibellini. But I just haven't been able to wrap my mind around the thought of carrying a dead animal around all day...

So, Lords and Ladies, may I present you with: The Cruelty-Free Zibellini!  Made from strips of faux fur, with aglets on the feet and pearls for eyes.

Sure, it's a little cheezy, but it's cute! and it looks pretty close to the real thing. and hey, my conscience is clear =)

I like it! It looks really good. How do you attach it to your shoulder?
My Enrique is 80 years old, so I console my self that I'm preserving an antique.

thanks =)

I would just need to add a little brooch or hidden pin to his head area for that, or some kind of ribbon - he's floppy enough to hang like that, but maybe not long enough.  I should probably put a couple of pie weights or something into his bum, so he hangs flat against my back.

I plan to make a longer version with a thinner, less otter-like tail.  I ordered a metal vaguely-head-shaped pin (see below), and I'm going to make him a brother... Maybe I've found my million dollar Etsy idea? heh

I bet a lot of Faire Nobility would snap these up if they were done in 'natural' colors.
I get the feeling that many people are uncomfortable with the genuine animals.
Have you considered 'eyes' like they use on stuffed animals?
Enrique has glass eyes that sorta mimic real eyes.

That pin looks perfect and I'm sure you could sell a ton of these especially done in dark brown!

I have one of these http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=18869 I don't use it as a zibellini, but rather as something to keep the girls in... "loook they do a trick" SQUEEEAK they're very soft and fun to touch (the dog toy that is) they're called skinneeez I got mine from petsmart, for the sole purpose of rencessories, however, I left it at  my boyfriend's house and his boxer used it for the soul purpose of chewing. I need to get another.
