Rendezvous 2010- Call for Volunteers!

Hi folks, Rendezvous is about four months away and we need help from our home forum members.

Rendezvous activities go on throughout the weekend, including the 23rd, which is Friday night, before faire.

What we need is:

Hotel Host/Hostesses: These will be people that will be at the hotels and just be around to help greet our out of towners with anything they need. We're welcoming many to Texas, and to their first Texas faire, I've love to show them our real Southern hospitality. The earlier you can be at the hotel to just hang out and meet everyone, the better. In turn, you will help with making sure people know the directions to the drinks and merriment on Friday night, the dinner on Saturday night, etc, etc. This is going to be a lot of hanging out but you will meet a lot of the people!

Tailgate Coordinator and Tailgate Volunteers : We need someone to organize the Pre-Cannon Shenannagins, including bringing breakfast items, tables, and set up, in the Friends of Faire parking Pre-Cannon both Saturday and Sunday morning at 8:15 AM or so for the 8:30 Tail-gating. People will be wandering through the parking lot and will spot the RF flag, etc and will want to meet other forum members, get their name tags, a helpful agenda for the day, etc, and mingle.

Crafts Class Volunteer: Will need someone to help Aiacha with her craft class, with set up and clean up on Sunday afternoon from 2 PM  (maybe a tad earlier to get set up) to  (unknown time).

Musicians: We are in need of a musician/musicians to play for our game of Musical Men on Saturday afternoon. Needs to be free from 3 o'clock PM (maybe a tad earlier to get set up)  to 4 PM or so.

Hotel Host/Hostesses: Probably not good for me to volunteer for this one. Management seems to frown on me spending too much time in the lobbies...ya know.... cuz I'm a freak and all.


Tailgate Coordinator and Tailgate Volunteers --- I'm down for this. I will be driving in each day...I live about 40 minutes away and can be early both days. I'll bring my table and some kolaches... some disposable cups...perhaps some juice. I'll also be happy to do name tags...perhaps we could start a list now and I could have the tags printed up ahead of time with chosen name and home town.

The RenDezvous nametags are usually wood plates with pins, and provided for everyone to put their own names on upon receipt. I have some ideas on that, so if you'd like to get together on a later date about it, please let me know!

Put us down as tailgate volunteers at the least. We can bring food on both days and help with nametags. We will drive down on Friday but will likely not be in Waxahachie until about 8 p.m. and will stay until Sunday. We can help with greeting folks, just will be down a bit late on Friday, or could be up to meet folks Saturday morning and escort them to opening gate. We have our FOF passes and will likely be joined by my son and his fiance who will have theirs and have offered to help with tailgating. So, that's Rick, Sherry, Craig and Tarra - just put us where you believe we will do the most good. Oh, we already have our reservations for the Super 8 and again, will arrive there Friday night at about 8 p.m....

Is Scarby going to allow us to have a section of the FOF parking for tailgating??

Well, the tailgating is just a couple of tables set up, with food and noms. They do a smaller version sometimes, but actually have EZ ups set up. I know I saw that opening weekend... I don't see there being any problem, it's outside the gates.

Tailgating is normal in FoF parking if you get there early enough in the morning. I know that I or someone will be at FoF parking, marking off an area for RF group at 8 am both mornings. Its nothing out of the ordinary for people to save an area for the rest of their crew or friends to park, we're just going to do the same, and that'll be enough room for whoever is bringing the tables, and then enough to set them up and have some room next to one of our vehicles.

We always get to the Motel 8 early on Friday. Not sure what you want done there, but we'll be there.
