Making your own saves a boatload of money. And its funner too.

But I have gotten addicted and sometimes spend too much on the fabric because it could be something. lol

I think it saves some money, depending on your skills and your tastes. But it takes a lot of time. My skills are fairly basic, so I rely on really good fabric to bring the quality up a little. Upholstery fabric mostly.
o/` I'm a little teapot...o/` No, I'm not, that would be silly. ::)

I cotton is my friend!

Its funny though because there are some things that scream bloomers or skirts its fun I love having costuming that is original. ;D

holierthanthou

Adriana, you should check out the Queen's bloomers.  She has so many unique ones!  LOL

I love making my garb.  Last year was the first time I ever bought pre-made garb, but that was due to the "short notice" that I was no longer to be the nun.  I only had pieces of garb here or my noble wear which is red, so I could not wear it to CRF.

Best place I have found to get any fabric is Denver Fabrics.  I LOVE shopping there.  Fabric jumps out and screams... make me work for you!  Hoping to go there soon to get more textiles for the new character.

Last year I received several new tights just by going to Denver fabrics (with a certain person) and making it a point to say, ooh, this would make nice tights...
I also got new hats to wear. I just shaved my head, so they fit a bit loose these days.

It helped buying a new sewing machine for said certain person as well...

I have purchased many different parts of garb at faire over the years- I still wear the first poet's shirt I bought years ago. Some people might be surprised, but I find ren garb to be very comfortable.

no surprise there sir I love wearing my garb as well. Most of it made for me by my mom and some bought add ons but making ones own is great. I so wish garb could be everyday wear again though working for wal-mart that might turn alot of heads lol

Hey, this was a family restaurant - we dressed nicely. They would not let me wear my ren garb though, which, on occasion, tends to get a bit of teriyaki chicken sauce on it... for some reason...

The restaurant went out of business years ago, which is too bad since they made hamster spam just the way you like it...
