I am not an employee of Scarborough Faire and to not represent them in any way.

I have never been able (but always wanted) to attend the Pirate weekend.  Here's to praying it will happen this year.

What exactly is different about the Magic weekend, besides the extra guests?

There are many places where compromise is expected;
LOYALTY is not amongst them.

It (April 17) will be my first day to perform on the Ivanhoe stage as a backup drummer for the Star Dancers  8)
I am also scheduled for May 1, 15 & 29, performing 5 shows every day  :)

We will be there the 2nd weekend and I had hoped magic weekend meant there may be some magic (I am past magic performer and think this is one area that is lacking at Scarborough).  :'(

I am partial and think all the weekends of Faire are magical...

I'm planning on a trip out this Sunday (April 18) to try and talk to the owner of the bookstore about a book signing on Pirate Weekend.  I hope to see you ALL there!

Chivalry weekend?

We need to come up with some better themes,
like;
Roman Holiday
Oktoberfest in May
The running of the bulls (bull costume anyone?)

The running of the bulls is kinda interesting  ;D

Agreed, a revamp of the themed weekends is definitely in order. Considering Scarborourgh is more historical, less fantasy then other faires, I'm not sure how the Weekend of Magic really fits in.

Every weekend should be full of chivalry IMHO  :P

I like the Roman Holiday theme idea.

As I recall, last year it was done, by the Duke d' Cadiz and his croneys, complete with Pinatas.  I believe Mad Juana was there and had a bull's head and horns anchored on her bodice, and a tail/rump on her derriere....

Since we have such a large Gypsy presence, why don't we have a Gypsy weekend?

...or would that turn into bellydance weekend to the exclusion of true Romany elements?

I like the themes Scarby chose. They're broad enough that they allow lee-way for creativity. What was not magical about having ALL the Flaming Idiots back for the first time in nearly 20 years?

Chivalry Weekend embodies what many mundanes think of when they think of renaissance. Remember, we were all mundane once. That's what drew us in.

Hmmm... probably the latter, or many people turning up in colors that aren't right for gypsies.  Like Red... which most people do not realize is considered to be reserved ONLY for weddings, being the color of (blood).  Some things the Roma just do not talk about.  I am still learning!   It's much more difficult to BE a gypsy than just putting on the clothing!

Hmmm.. Romani Days and Arabian Nights/Knights... Wonder where THAT would go?

Neither are the Grimm Fairy Tales!  Which is why in Extravaganza we have to alter them a bit... Read the originals!  Whew!
