Hey,
I am new to the site and I was looking for some ideas for bride and bridesmaids dresses. I want to stay with a Ren look mainly Celtic garb possibly mixing in tartans since the men will be wearing kilts, but I also don't want my friends to hate me. Ideas?

Well, if their your friends hopefully they'll love you no matter what you do ;)  I suggest talking it over with them first to see how they feel about it.  As for garb, are the groomsmen renting formal kilts or are their kilts more garb like?  If its the latter you can always do a simple chemise/irish dress combo. Many grab sellers have this combination at a reasonable price and some like Very Merry Seamstress do them as bridal party packages.

If its the more formal kilts you might consider doing a simple, more traditional bridesmaid dress and then pair it with celtic knot jewelry or a shaw/drape/wrap with either tartan or celtic knot patterns.

For wedding dresses with celtic flare you might want to check out threads of time as well.  Good luck and hope you have a wonderful wedding.

This spring I was in a dear friend's wedding. The groom and all of the men in the wedding party wore Blackwatch kilts, the bride had a lovely gown she'd made that she can wear to faire nearly anytime she wants to, and all of the ladies in the wedding party wore basic Irish dresses and plain white chemises.

we are an older couple and recently 'sprung' the news on friends and family that we plan to marry at a ren faire net spring.  Everyone is very enthusiastic and intrigued.  I think it will be fine.

you can check out http://www.midnightgarden.com/wedding/board/index.php  the board is kinda slow but people do still lurk and respond to your posts.

Good luck...

Greetings and congratulations,

I think your friends would be most supportive and think it is a wonderful idea. You should bring it up and maybe they will have ideas and connections to get the outfits. If you are adding a handfasting to the proceedings, by all means check out our website, www.celticcords.com. Some of our cords are shown but we can also special order based on your colors. Best of luck with everything, and have a great day.
