So according to what I've read, Queen Margaret is leaving because Disney is having wild sex parties? ;)

I heard the rumor about our dear Queen Margaret and had to find out if it was true so I signed on to the forum. It would be a shame if that dear lady left us. She has done so much to make Scarby a great place to be. I have heard the whispers about the Scots and how there are too many at Scarby. I would guess that would be someone who is jealous and there is only one place that jealousy could come from.

It is true that the Scots are a large presence, but no other fair has that Celtic presence like Scarby. It is something unique and to be treasured.

If it is true that someone hates our Queen Margaret so much that they would say these things and tell tales about her, then how sad for them.

A tip of the hat to the duke for bringing it to our attention. How noble for an Englishman to defend teh Scottish queen.

I think if Queen Margaret were to depart from us, there would be a rebellion like none seen before and the fair would lose. We would lose. Scarby is a wonderful place with many wonderful people, and Queen Margaret is first among them.

This is Queen Margaret of Scotland & the Isles (Janna) from Scarborough Renaissance Festival.

First, I'm truly touched that you are worried about my departure from SRF. Thank you for your love and support. It is mutual.

Second, I have no plans to leave. Whether I stay is a decision of the entertainment director/general manager and the cast director. It is my plan to return in 2011. But again, that's their decision and no decisions about that will be made until prep for the 2011 season begins.

Third, don't let the drama of a storyline or bit of the moment color what is or is not fact. As one of you so precisely and eloquently put it, we are so good at our jobs that it's never apparent what is in faith and what is in sooth.  ;D

Don't worry about things that haven't happened. I'm here for the remainder of 2010 and I hope to be here for many, many more.

Hugs,
Janna

Having traveled to a couple of faires away from home, I have to say, the day that the "management" tells us that we don't need Queen Mag, they will have made a horrid decision. I have not met another woman with such great power and prescence in my travels that could compare to you Janna. You are greatly loved by many and we'd like to keep you around for a very long time to come.
Still Meggers, just a little more grown up now. :)

If her majesty's subjects are afraid of losing Queen Margaret, they need to write Scarby management and make their voices heard.

Talking about it on a ren forum is not going to get their attention. Intelligent e mails and people coming to see Queen Margaret will. Management understands the language of money.

Coy here, GM and ED- I read RF.com, regularly, but only post when I feel it is important. This is one of those times-

There are no plans to replace/remove/clone/kill off any of the existing characters at SRF at this time, OR the actors who portray them. Lys said that, allow me to make it official.

Someone said-

"What I can't understand is WTF was the Arch Duchasss doing on a horse and OUR Queen walking last Sunday!  Apparently someone needs to inform the Duchass of her place in the pecking order!  Last time I checked and trust me I am no historian, but I would think that if anyone rides it should the three royals (Henry, Ann and Margaret). But there I go making sense again! How silly of me!"

The Performing Company Director is in charge of who marches, and where they march. NOT a character, OR the actor/actress playing a character. The PC Director reports to me, just like Janna did last year as ED, and the year before when she was PC Director.

IMHO, you are out of line attacking a character concerning something you are 1- not familiar with and 2-haven't an inkling of what happens during the production of a show day.

If you have a concern about something that happens, or the way the Festival is run, operated, managed, and/or directed. feel free to contact me. I am available each and every Festival Day (many from this forum and FOF talk to me on a regular basis both on a show day and during the week) OR, I am available by contacting the office. I do not believe there is a more open and available management staff in the country.

However, I take exception to anyone who attacks or demeans our characters, or the talented folks who portray them, and who put it the many many months of preparation to make this show what it is.
