The lines for the privies were much shorter.
It looked like the EMS people had to deal with a larger number of heat exhaustion cases than previous.

Hmmm...
Other than that, eveyone seemed to be relaxed and enjoying themselves. I am going to steal a line from Lady Maria Before.

It did not seem to be as busy as previous weekends although I did notice a lot of 'danes out there.

And yes, LOTS of people getting too hot.  They need to put signs up around Faire that say 'Beer != Water'.

1 more day for us.  I'm already missing my fairemily.

Merlin

The key to success is Pedialyte in route to faire and water plus pickle juice while at faire.

Trust me on this one... if you drink a bottle of Pedialyte...(dont be proud and say that stuff is for babies... I learned about this when I used to run marathons..it works)
While at faire.... take in as much water as you do beer or scotch or rum... and around noon...go to the pickle guy...tip him 2 bucks and ask for a glass of pickle juice.
You will be fine all day long if you do this.... I promise.

I saw so many ren-friends today.... it was awesome! I hope to see more tomorrow... I'll be marching tomorrow as "Scott the Scot" because the Merlin outfit is too hot to do 2 days in a row.
I am looking forward to wearing the kilt...regimental style ... tomorrow with a sleeveless cotton-gauze shirt.

Everyone here is so kind!  Thank you everyone for making me feel so welcome.

We arrived at the village late in the day, getting in only about 3 hours. We were in costume (21st century style) on a reconnoiter mission. I can attest that it was bloody hot! I saw a few of you in the distance, but didn't want to blow my cover.  We'll be there bright and early today & tomorrow!

I looked every where for you, Dad.
Just like when I graduated valedictorian of Mage school in Edinburgh... you were late then too.

My twin "Scott the Scot" will be going today in my place.

I suppose it had to happen sooner or later, but a 'dane came up and asked me for directions (which, unfortunaly, I could not answer.......though two days later, I realize what they were asking and I did know! They wanted to know where the bird show was). Add to that, someone asked me where I got my shirt........so maybe it means I'm blending more into it. That may be possible for Saturday at faire seemed like "yesterday"....even though the visits were about 6 days apart.

Personally, I felt that a lot on Saturday, getting more into it; it was the first time I visited a faire more than once in a season.

Biggest difference noticed (so far)? The pipers weren't exhausted at the end so there was some dancing outside the walls. Not as great as observed in visits at other years but some.

Other than that.....well, probably won't be able to tell until done with looking at almost 2K pictures between two weeks.

It was nice to be there Saturday. I was OK in the heat. I drank lots of ice water- Thanks to the FOF lads and lasses!- and only a wee bit of scotch- LOL!.  Taking an aspirin also lowers your body temp.
Went to a wine tasting at the Cat and Fiddle! Fun! I saw many friends- but missed seeing so many of you! I missed the AM tailgating. Hugs until next year- or TRF or Sherwood!
I was one of the dancers at closing! Where did I get the energy? I guess from the piper!

Thanks to all of you nice Scarby people for not picking the last weekend for Rendezvous.  I couldn't imagine it any hotter than the weekend in April when we were there.

I hope everybody treated those wonderful EMTs well this weekend!  They were great to me when I did the nosedive in the mud from the heat (and we left on a first name basis!).

Junior, I had hoped to catch up with you this day, but I heard that you were a touch under the weather. Sorry we missed each other this weekend.

M'Lady Nimue and I had a wonderful time this season, this weekend, and especially this day. We made contact with some of you and got to visit for a bit pre-cannon. We would like especially to thank the kindness of Dona Catalina, who took on the task of introducing us to several folks.

It seemed that today was a little easier to take, but not by much. We were surveyed upon exit, and our answer to the question, "What would you do to improve Scarborough?" our response was cooler weather. Don't know if that will help, but maybe it will have some weight coming from a wizard. :D

The ceremony at the Village Green after the parade was special. I'm not a veteran, but I attended on behalf of my late dad. It meant a lot to me.

And before I forget... The "Clan McTranny" that showed their lovely (??) faces on the Day of Wrong was awesome. Your pictures are going to be forever emblazoned upon the pages of the Internet, I'm sure.

Hercules

Holy Carp it was hot on Sunday. Fun watching Doktor Kaboom "invent" air conditioning.  ;D

Monday seemed just as hot but wasn't...does 94 really feel THAT different from 99 degrees?

Unusual to see the lines at the water stands longer then the lines at the beer stands.

Now the countdown to TRF.
Save the Earth (it's the only one with beer)!

Monday was noticeably cooler, apparently a 5 degree drop makes a difference.
The performers held up amazingly well even in the heat. It did seem like a larger than usual number of Vets marched in the parade.

The FOF booths ran out of gatorade, so we darn near drank the pickle guy dry. We lasted until 3:30 trying to say farewell to everyone. Hopefully we will see some of you at Middlefaire and at TRF later in the Fall.

It was hotter on Sunday?  I got there on Monday at about 10:30am, and only lasted until a little after 3pm. Way too hot for this Yankee.

I got way too hot on Saturday and Sunday was a bakery for sure.  Monday I only lasted til about 1230 and finally just called a retreat.  Was a great season for sure.  Hope to see many of you later in the year at TRF and other places.

I did something I have never done before in 24 years on-cast:  I stripped down and took a cold shower after Parade.

We have well-deep-cold water for the showers; THATS how I survived the last day in 2010!  8)

It never ceases to amaze me how you and the rest of the cast are able to last the long day in those clothes! Is there an air conditioned green room or something for the cast to rest and recover in?

We simply build up to the heat. We do have a green room area where can rest and recover, but there is no a/c.
