So I was out in the back yard, dealing with the dogs, as I have done hundreds of thousands of times. I'm not entirely sure what happened, all I know it that my big toe on my left foot had a "disagreement" with the side of the cement step and it ripped my toenail off of my big toe. Two friggin days before faire??!!! Are you serious??!!! Now my toenail is barely hanging on, but isn't totally ready to be removed. I don't know if I'll be able to get shoes on, let alone walk around opening day. I am SO BUMMED!!!

Ouch indeed!

I recommend that you soak a bandage in fake blood tonight.  Then, Saturday morning, wrap your entire foot in a clean bandage, put the "bloody" one over it, then come to Faire on a crutch.  Voila!  Authentic pirate!

Eow. And again, EOW. Best wishes for fast healing . . . really fast! . . .

How about LadySteelToeBootlegger!!!  Sorry to hear about your toenail, have lost finger nail's before so I know that than can smart pretty good.  Well if you make it on opening day maybe we should hang out together so we could hobble around in the rain  ???.  As far as it still hanging on I know it doesn't sound like fun but the sooner you get rid of it the sooner it will get better.  Hang in there and if you can take wearing a shoe than maybe the distraction of faire might take your mind off of it for a while at least.

Best wishes

A few years ago I broke my pinkie toe the Monday before opening weekend.  Yup.  I just used a walking stick and made up a story about the limp.  No problem!  LOL
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

I had a straight pin removed from my foot on Monday. I was packing for faire on Friday, and spent the weekend at TRF.  I was well enough I could stand but I couldn't stand for long.  I had a good friend push me around in a wheel chair most of the weekend.  I had fun telling people that the mighty seamstress was bettered by straight pin.  It's how I got my faire name.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

Well, just as I feared... My "condition" did not allow well for wearing shoes or being at faire. I also learned that while drinking one's pain killers, it also makes it a bit more difficult to hobble.

Needless to say, I will be staying home today to let my injury heal.

My most sincere thanks to all of you who kept me company, and my mug full yesterday  ;)

Sir LJ

Several years ago I had a group of friends and I fly out to Steamboat to go skiing. Myself and 1 of the others lived in IN at the time. 2 weeks prior to flying out, my partner did a "yard sale" while skiing in So MI at a local slope. He blew his knee out when he fell. Needless to say there was no skiing for him in Steamboat. Yet, the trooper he was still went and we spent 2 of our 7 days on snowmobile trips. The rest of the time. while we skied, he sat in a pub!

Get your self better and ready for next week. WE ARE COMING SOON TO A FAIR NEAR YOU!
