As many of you know, Lady Mikayla has a small pack of dogs.  Most of those dogs are small.  However, her big Dalmatian cross Roman, is the 'big boy' of the bunch.  Over the past few weeks, Roman hasn't been feeling well, and despite trips to the vet, they couldn't figure out exactly what was wrong with him.  I'm not sure we'll ever know as our poor Roman passed on today.

So, if we could all pass along some prayers or feelings of love to our Lady Mikayla and her small pack of pups, it would surely be well received.

Much love,
~LD
I don't know what you've heard, none of it is factual, but it's all true.

Grammercy for posting this Lady D. Thank you for your kind words and wondermous support. I know Lady Mikayla appreciates it dearly.

Roman was a 10 and a half year old Dalmation who looked younger than his years up until about 3 months ago. At that time he just all of a sudden dropped off - he became weak and looked emaciated, dropping a lot of weight. His 1st test came back anemic - we had already changed his diet, to basically anything we could get him to eat that he liked. We had some luck as he bounced back a bit, but never all the way back. In fact his 2nd test - to the vet's surprise came back normal. Which had him scratching his head. After that we had good days and bad days.

Yesterday was the worst we'd ever seen him and knew what needed to happen. The vet and all of the staff were super sweet to us in that process. A random stranger, a lady in the waiting room saw us when we carried him in. In the few minutes before taking him into the room, she also petted him sweetly and offered kind words. It was greatly appreciated though we both could barely speak well enough to offer much gratitude.

Roman was the sweetest buddy anyone could ask for and HIGHLY protective of his Momma - Lady Mikayla. He was a great stick fetcher and an awesome tag-team partner against fierce ground-hogs! He is greatly missed.  :'(

I had to make the same choice for my Yorkie, CoCo, this past January.  He was 17, had dementia and arthritis.  He waits at the rainbow bridge, as does your Roman now.
Bless you, and know you made the right decision.

My condolences on her loss. I know how hard is to take the decision of letting go and losing a friend. I lost my Cooper in January and it was by far the hardest decision I had to take in my life.

Lady Mikayla, this is for you and your family:

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor.
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing... they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Lady M, I am truly sorry to hear of the loss of one of your loved ones. I hold the hands of many, sometimes on a daily basis when they make the right choice for benefit of their loved ones. For the past 48 hours I have been doing emergency care on a very sick dog, his parents made a the right, but very sad decision to let him rest in peace this morning. Ironically, his name is "Roman". It's sometimes hard not to get emotionally involved in my work, but today, both Romans have touched my heart. My heart is with you.
