I posted this in the festival promotion section, but thought I should post it to a more targeted audience! There is a new festival in Colorado, the Edgewater Celtic Harvest Festival. Admission is free, and if you take the time to look over the events schedule, you'll see that there are a ton of bands scheduled to perform. Looks like this one is shaping up to be a killer festival, and as I am a participant and have a vested interest in it's success, I'm promoting it as much as possible. Come out and help to make it a big success!!

Damn, I wish it was not the same weekend as Santa Fe...

Oh, thank you!! Can I have a few of the pictures of the Renaissance Scots? The screen on my camera is broken, so I didn't get all that many, including one of this guy:

and his wife. They're our newest members, this was their very first event with us, and I couldn't get any good pictures of them!

So, introductions! This gentleman:

is Mark. He's our clan weaver.

This is Miriam:

This is her husband Dan:

They are our newest members. He is one of our fighters. She's there to ad some color at this point!

This is Mama Kerry.

She's our clan mother- she takes good care of us all!

Hope you enjoyed your visit to our little section of the festival!!

Thank you kindly! So here are some of my pictures from the weekend!

Mama Kerry entertaining. She cooked bannoks as a demonstration and had given some to these people.

One of the kids in our group:

Our smithy giving a demo:

My son makes chain mail. Here he is going his thing, while out little buddy is playing around with my leather gear. He's very interested in learning the craft. I may have an apprentice...

I was wrong! I did get a picture of one of our new members!

The new banner for my tent! Woo hoo!!

We have 2 new weavers who signed up!

To be continued!

Nighthawk

Our other new weaver! We're growing- signed 2 new members other than these 2 today!

An idea of the kind of crowd we managed to draw today, despite how new the festival is and the crappy weather at the start of the day!

Kids in our fight ring. They're always fun!

SAMMY!! He hasn't been with us most of the season! It was great to see him at this one!

Three cops in one pic...

Leather worker's tent:

This guy was driving me nuts...

Another one of our kids trying on the chain mail coif that my son made:

And last but not least from today! Beating the crap out of a cop and not going to jail is the best possible way to end a festival! The cop actually paid his membership dues in full after his butt whipping!

OK, now- last but not least- I was asked my opinion of the handiwork of this gentleman. He had made his first knife and wanted to know what I thought, and if I could help him out making a sheath.

Day 2!!

Our new tent with some life in it!! The gentleman on the right is our newest member, and this was his first time in a kilt- and he did it right! He went right for the great kilt!

And his wife. These folks make a great addition! I think they will help immeasurably with our authenticity!

Visit from a BIG doggie!!

New armor being displayed by our smithy.

My fellow leather giving a lecture on what he does. This gentleman is a Shetland native, and we are going to be tailoring our tent to reflect the islands of Scotland for next year, complete with a Shetland tent. (As a side note, people ask him how he manages to keep his accent for an entire lecture- an then he tells them that he has no choice. Those of us get a little giggle out of that!)

This is another first for the Renaissance Scots!

Our fighters giving a combat demonstration. This is usually our biggest draw, but at this festival, it was totally different! They get no more attention than the rest of us! We had as many people visiting the weavers as we did the fighters! It was a pleasant surprise. Anyways, here are the pictures of our fighters!

Probably one of the best pictures I've ever taken! Dan's feet aren't even touching the ground!! Timing was perfect on this one!!

And of course, what demo of Scottish martial arts would be complete without a Highland charge?

The chief of the Renaissance Scots standing in the audience after the charge.

So- all in all, this was a killer festival! It was a great ending to a great season. We had NO hospitalizations this year! We had a minor injury this morning requiring a visit from the on site paramedics, but everything ended well. Onto next season!!

Mischief Snicklebritches

We went later in the day and saw the Indulgers!!! I totally geeked out about the fiddler. I wish I could play like that....but never practicing kinda doesn't allow for that. :D lol

It was tiny, but very fun.
How do I know I haven't missed it?!...what if it WAS the chicken!

The Professor

Thank you for posting those interesting pictures!
