They raised the old and built this new more grand one in its place.

I should have asked when he came and greeted me, but a large, young (in comparison) man, who was wearing a Scarborough Staff shirt walked over and shook my hand while we were in line to enter the gate Sunday. Friendly chap who knew I was an Arkie. Anyone have a clue who the bloody `ell he was? Unless I was standing in a hole, he was at least as tall as me, so he's 6 ft plus, blond, I think, broad shouldered...  Anyone know? I just like to know who it is that I almost know, you know?

Sounds like the General Manager
How would he know me?!?  Does he hang out here on R/F?

No, it wasn't Orvis... Orvis was sitting next to me at the Cat & Fiddle. This was a younger guy...but then, so is Methuselah.

It is possible that it was Coy, the General Manager.  He occasionally checks the boards so might have seen you on here.

I thought Coy was the one in the floppy yellow hat and yellow garb? Did Miguel's lines during the play before the cannon shot?

That (doing Miguel's lines), if I'm not mistaken, was Dan, the cast director.  I personally thought that was clever and funny.

Merlin is correct.  That was Dan (a.k.a. William Kemp, England's Greatest Actor).

Speaking of the opening play, I hope that everyone realizes that the ENTIRE thing except for the Opening and Closing lines is improvisation, and that they really don't know the lines til they crack open the fortune cookies.  Damned skilled improv, folks, that's what you're seeing there.

I got a bunch of good laughs out of the play Sunday! A few of the folks were obviously still a little nervous, but it was good.

Oh, ok. Still trying to learn name slol.

WOW! I thought it was all scripted - that makes an amazing play even more amazing! Are they going to do some sort of play again Saturday, or was that just a special thing?

They do the gate show every Opening gate, and its a different fortune cookie each week, as I know, so yes, it will be a "play" again. Moreso, it's them doing an awesome improv show. There is a reason we won best cast this year! :-D
Still Meggers, just a little more grown up now. :)

Yes, the improvisational play occurs every morning at opening gate starting about 9:40ish. Presenting it as a play to their majesties, allows us to be a little loose with our characters, marrying/killing them off, stealing flowers from gardens, poisoning the ale, etc. We get to have a lot more fun that way and give a much more entertaining show. The cast has done amazing work this year in classes. In the improv class, we gave them a lot of chance to practice improv scenes (which basically means performing scenes over and over again learning what will stall a scenes out as well as what will help a scene be more interesting. It is a shame there is no audience for some of the great scenes that occur during the workshop practice. Luckily, I have been blessed to see a lot of these and can honestly tell you that everyone is in for a real treat this year. The cast has put in amazing work and is truly a force of nature this year.

P.S. It is possible that the same lines may occur sometimes. As they are whatever is found in the fortune cookie and are not manipulated by the show director, we cannot guarantee unique never-been-heard-before lines although we do try to get the cookies--or perhaps I should say "biscuits"--from a mix of vendors.
