How to Train Your Dragon

4/5

- The main character was likable as was the dad
- Good animation.
- Storyline was pretty solid, if not predictable. Would have been nice to get the girl involved in the side plot sooner in the story.
- I'd probably watch a sequel.

I loved how to train your dragon  :)

Your Highness: 1.5 out of 5, for many of the same reasons the critics panned it, and I rarely agree with critics.

~Painfully bad script, really lame jokes.

~All the actors were good; except the two lead characters (a failing shared by many Nickolas Cage movies).

~Too many scenes that made you say 'WTF?'  Best I can figure they were trying for shock value.  Icky does not necessarily=funny, and the audience was not laughing at any of the above.

On the positive side-Special effects were great, costumes and location were stellar.

"Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog"
3 out of 5.
~It's Joss Wheaton, Mal from Firefly, and Neil Patrick Harris.
~ I could recognize the background from back lot images from universal studios.
~ It is a fan boys movie, not made to be taken seriously, just something to have fun with.

If you want something to just laugh your backside off at people who normally take themselves very seriously, check it out.  Just keep in mind it is pure geekieness.  ;D
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

I loved How to Train your Dragon so much that I bought it

last movie I saw was Hereafter- with Matt Damon.
I really wanted to like this movie, and a good bit of it was great.
But it was a lot of build up (2 hrs) for a lackluster ending that left you feeling empty and expecting more

Gnomeo and Juliet: I'm a sucker for animated movies because I am a big kid anyways. lol.. I liked the movie at lot and the soundtrack was good, too. 3.5 out of 5

Just Go With It: Adam Sandler's movies make me laugh a lot and say what you will about Jennifer Aniston; she's just awesome in my book. 4 out of 5.

I'm splendid. That is all.

True Grit: 4/5  for photography, sticking to the book, casting (an actual young girl for the role of a young girl), and Jeff Bridges, who was a muuuch better Rooster Cogburn than John Wayne.  And NO Glen Campbell, which automatically gives it another star.

Tron Legacy 2/5. Terrible dialogue, disconnected plot line, would have been better to just allow Daft Punk play all the way through and just watch the pretty effects.

I'm with you on all things except John Wayne. Bridges was extremely good in the role. John Wayne was casting perfection.

In the last week I saw

Gnomio and Juliette - And I gave it a 4 out of 5, incredible humor hidden in the childrens animation and Braveheart Bunnies.

Black Swan - 3 out of 5  - Interesting story but just a touch to slow....

My problem with the Duke is that I never forgot it was John Wayne in the saddle.  Whereas Bridges was Rooster.

I completely agree.  The Duke was Rooster, as far as I was concerned.  And I honestly didn't mind Glen Campbell.  The girl in the new movie was fantastic, however, and was a huge improvement over the original.  And the cinematography was amazing. . .made me want to mount a horse and ride off into the sunset.

Movie I just watched: The Blind Side 5/5, everyone was good in the movie, the story is inspiring, and Sandra Bullock is a great actress.  That role clinched it for me.

Once I get myself into a story/movie, I'm able to disassociate the actor from their character, unless the acting is just awful. I never could stand Glen Campbell in the movie.  The only thing I found lacking in the second version—and in the book—was that the story just stopped. I didn't feel like it had an ending, or maybe that Portis had gone past the ending. It left me wanting something, though for the life of me I couldn't say what.

Before seeing the remake and reading the book, I thought that Kim Darby was the irritant. Now I know it was the character.  Both versions rank high on my list for different things. I was SO glad to see the Coen's use a realistic backdrop for that part of the country. The mountains in the original were almost as distracting as Campbell's lack of acting skills.

Lady Rebecca

Last I saw in the theatre: Jane Eyre - I mainly went to see it for the costumes, which were lovely and almost completely correct (imo), but it was a pretty decent adaptation of the book, too. I was really glad that they cut down on the scenes with St. John, since that part of the book really bored me. The only thing that really threw me was that when she comes back to find Rochester, he and Mrs. Fairfax hadn't left the property of the burned out house. Which was really strange. Still, it was decent, though it makes me want to watch the BBC one again. 4 out of 5 stars.

Last I saw on DVD: Megamind - I knew it was supposed to be a funny superhero movie, but it was better than I expected. I thought Megamind's character was actually really well developed, and while a lot of the plot twists were somewhat predictable, there were enough of them to hold my interest. And it was really funny, spoofing all sorts of other movies. Pretty good for a "superhero" movie! 4 out of 5 stars.

Orgazmo

4/5
-Matt Stone and Trey Parker before they were famous for South Park
-Funny cheezy movie, lots of crude jokes and humor
-A few cameos

Everything I've seen in the last couple of months has been on dvd (total netflix addict) as we are saving up our pennies for the summer blockbusters and dragoncon

Hereafter- 2 out of 5 and I love Matt Damon. The characters were well developed, but the ending ruined the movie for me. No closure and no resolution. I'm glad I saw it but I will never watch it again.

Fast Five

I went into this movie with 0 expectations and was thoroughly entertained. The plot had a very strong Oceans 11 feel to it and the dialog was just horrible in spots, however, the action was excellent and there were car chases and crashes and explosions enough to make me happy. There was some romance but it was more background stuff and thankfully didn't steal scenes. Not a fan of action movies with alot of romance (300, for example).

Over all I'd give it a 4/5.

I'm in agreement, Keeper! And I really like Jeff Bridges as an actor, I'd just rather see him do something that hasn't been done already.

Best movie I've seen in a long time- Atlas Shrugged. Well cast, well shot, well told.
