looks like we will be there on closing!  booked the room.  i was surprised they had anything available.  ;D

Dangit Bonny, do you guys take the last room all the time or what?! Nothing available right now. I will call later in the week.

Who has stayed at the America's Best Value Inn? Pan and Tink did, I think...anyone else? Can anyone give me a quick review? I'm not expecting 5 stars and room service, just clean rooms and reasonably comfy beds to sleep on!

We were at America's Best Value a few weeks ago. The room was clean, bathroom was a little on the small side, but it was usable.  The mattresses were not great, but not the worst I've ever been in, but not great

LOL!  Sorry hun!  :D

Are you talking about the place next door?  Some friends stayed there last trip and didn't really have any complaints.

Yes the place next door. I will check them next.

Tink

For a place to sleep, it was better than I was expecting.  I wouldnt want to hang out there as my main destination, but its a good place to stay for faire.  The towels and sheets were clean (Pan makes fun of me for checking under the sheets near the foot of the bed, but Im paranoid about bugs), there was a mini-fridge in the room, and the air conditioner worked.  Thats pretty much all I needed.

Lol. Luckily I live close enough so I don't have to stay in a hotel. But I hear ya on being paranoid about bugs in hotels. Especially with all the bed bugs!!

It helps to be old so you can get the AARP discount.  In Waxahachie, Hampton Inn is pretty good, but the prices vary from hell-to-breakfast.  Comfort Suites was interesting...the electronic lock on our door broke and we had to change rooms...and floors, then woke the next morning with the front of the hotel laying in a pile in the parking lot.  Hopefully, neither incident is commonplace.

There's also a Sleep Inn on US77 in Waxahachie—about 10-15 minutes from the faire, and a Comfort Inn in Red Oak, which is no more than 15 minutes or so away.

The Pp and I missed last years as we were in rainy/foggy New Zealand at the time.  We are looking forward to a fun  closing weekend.  The PP is even plotting his Day of Wrong outfit LOL.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.
