Shopping advice

I'm searching for a stainless steel or sterling silver (preferably the former) drinking goblet.  If you've ever seen the ones the Baron & Baroness carry, something like theirs.  I already know I can't find one where they got there's, so I'm searching for input on where to find one BEFORE faire.  Online is okay with me. I don't want pewter nor do I want to spend too much money on one, but I'd like it to look nice.  I already have a silver mug from CRF, I just need a goblet now.  Any advice??

There are the jewel encrusted ones from faire that look more noble and regal than the others i see carried around. You can get them up by the Elephants. They hold about 3/4 of the cup of the drinks sold at faire.

I belive at CORF, along with may other faires is Ballena Bay Pewter. I believe I have seen the shinier silver type goblets there (they may be pewter also).  (They also sell puzzle rings, and other metal items - I got my astrolabe there, but I digress). I am not sure if that is the place that is beign referred to.

Jewel encrusted ones sound really nice!  Did you see those at John Coiner's (at the very top of the hill behind the elephants)?  I don't recall seeing those before, but then again, I wasn't really searching for goblets then.  Thanks for the info!!

Not sure the shop name, I'm bad about know them. They sell the ceramic mugs and goblets as well. They also had jewel encrusted tankards that where really nice looking. Toki and I have the goblets though and they work nice. Might not hold as much as the Baron and Baroness goblets, but they do look very noble and rich.

They are very sturdy as well as ours have taken tumbles and never dented or broken or lost a jewel.

There is a shop right next to "No Name Leather" on the way to the elephants that i believe have some very nice goblets and such and the place DeLaney is talking about. I believe it is just a few stalls down from our favorite ladies flower shop.

How terrible am I you guys are talking about my neighborhood and I have no clue lol,

there is the pewter shop just before No Name Leather. I think Coiner has those cups but I really dont get out that often to shop.

I would say try ebay or ask Baron where they got theirs I remember them saying where they got them but that is lost in my mind at the mo

I remember what is around some of my favorite shops. First thing i do when i get to faire is buy flowers from adriana to give to some friends i know that work the faire and of course i love no nam leather for there leather mugs the best at the faire (now just to figure out how to make them myself)

The pewter shop before No Name is Fellowship Foundry.  And both Balena Bay and Fellowship have new things this season - well, new to me anyways - based on their displays at the SoCal Pleasure Faire.

But since you are looking for stainless steel, I would try eBay, or a generic Google search.  Stainless steel will be lighter than pewter, and as pewter ages it can dull, if you don't keep polishing it.  And heavy pewter can be pricy.  My Celtic mug was a natal-day gift!

I think the pewter "dulling" is actually considered to be its natural patina, just as copper patinas. Pewter is indeed heavy, especially if you get something ornate. I can certainly vouch for Ballena Bay, as I've carried one of their products since Scarborough `04. But, unless I'm mistaken, they only deal in pewter.  On my drinking vessel, only the dragon handle has patinaed. The bowl is actually still quite shiny, and I do not polish it.

My mom has a goblet that has embossed fleur-de-lis all over it that is stainless steel if I'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure she ordered it online, but I'll double check with her on that.

I think you may be right Blushing, e-bay or Google may be a good bet.  I don't want pewter because it's too heavy and I'm not interested in carrying around the extra weight in addition to the price.  Since my silver mug leaves my water & drinks tasting rather strange, I'd prefer stainless steel although I think it may be more challenging to find.  I'll check the internet & see what I can find.

Lady Ana, have you considered ceramic?  I purchased a short stemmed vessel from https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?cropsuccess&id=510420409#!/DarkRiverPottery and love it!  (3rd row down, 2nd in from left)  I only paid $35 for this gorgeous piece.  Surprisingly light and very sturdy.  When I asked about breakage the artist pulled it from my hand and chucked it out into the grass at faire!  Not a scratch!

If you go to "photos", then "products" you can see the available shapes.  Obviously these are just white to show you the shape without distraction of color.  You can even send them swatches and they'll paint to compliment your garb!
