I adore Jack, but he's a "swishy" pirate.  Now Barbossa, he is everything that you think a pirate should be. 

I think part of it is Geoffrey Rush's acting.  He just oozes slimeball-ness, but then he doesn't.  You're scared of him, but then you're not.  I know what I mean, but I don't know if anybody else does!    lol

I think it is more of a man who knows what has to be done and is willing to do what is necessary.
Whatever is necessary.
