Hey all,

I'm going to the MN Ren Fest auditions on the 19th of May, and I dont know what to expect.  Should I have something prepared, or is there improptu things.  I am mainly looking for what happened at a previous year.

One thing to note, I dont really have a specific talent to show at the audition, so I am just freaking out because this would just make my entire year if I could work at the Renaissance Faire

Thanks all

I auditioned I wanna say 6 years ago now so how current my information is I can't tell you.

when I went we were with a group, and no one was immediately told no. We were given a small script, something about placing your load in the mud as an activity and then had to memorize it, and act it out using various emotions and things.

I had nothing prepared, I am not an actor *trained microbiologist instead*, and have no clue how I made it through.

My suggestions are be fast on your feet. Most of festival work is improv work. It wouldn't hurt to have something small, but I would just go and be yourself.

Have to agree.  If you don't make it this year on cast, don't lose heart. Regroup.   attend some improv classes.   Watch HUGE theater on Facebook.   They offer classes once in a while.
Also, bear in mind that being on cast is hard, thankless work, it isn't always rainbows and unicorns.
Good luck!

I agree with Kate.  I auditioned 2 years ago to be on street and not part of a group.  I had no script prepared (and don't attend in costume unless they ask you to).  You don't need a specific character in mind.  You can ask at the auditions for what is needed.  When I was there they had too many nobles not enough merchants.  So you may want to consider being a merchant.   Everything we did was improv related - only stage acts came prepared with scripts and acts.  Best advice is take a deep breath and go with the flow.

I second what everyone else said, and offer up this advice: Make friends with someone already on cast. It may not help with the auditions, but having someone to let you know what to expect on street is invaluable. My first year I attached myself to a noble as her not-so-helpful maid. Working street is tough, it helps when you've got a support system out there.

All of the above and mostly BE OPEN TO ANYTHING!!!!  Do not be afraid to make a fool out of yourself and have fun!  Giggles does the DUMBEST things just to get a laugh (so do I when I'm out there, but I'm not on cast) and it works!  Smiles and laughter are contagious, be the virus that starts it all!   ;D
