I spoke with Ernesto last week and he said that as far as he knew he would be playing at MIRF this year and that he was told it was an oversight that he was left off the website.  Hopefully all will be well and him and Liz will be there again this year, that was a favorite spot of mine as well.

I even got word from Liz that Johnny Red, former Guitarist of the Gutterpups, will be playing with Ernesto and Liz.

Merry Measure is returning for all but the final weekend.  This will be my second year at MIRF and I'm looking forward to having even more fun than I had last year, when I got my first ever wenching! ;D

Not sure when as of yet, but my lovely Lady Kathryn will be with us for at least one weekend as well.

That pewter-like stuff you speak of Katie is called Armitale or Statesmetal. I have a tankard made of the stuff and it holds nearly 3 cans or bottles of beer, I say nearly because you can only get half of the 3rd beer in the tankard. I found I like metal because it doesn't break easily, but wood is good too. I found though yes, the metal can take cold from the drink, it also can retain the cold in your drink, once chilled down long enough with ice or a lager beer like Budweiser or Miller. Then fill will choice beers or ales even soda as the day wears on.

This info is for Saoirse_Anam:

Reincarnated Trees has some very nice wood mugs. I bought a wine goblet, and shot cup from his  shop last year, and I'm very happy with them.

There are two other wooden mug/cup, and bowl shops  sort of located from the southwest corner of the castle and jail.

Most of the shops that sell metal cups are of the higher end pewter and most with very intricate designs, but if you have the cash you might as well splurge and get yourself a real nice, one I would but a fancy goblet or mug just wouldn't go well with my garb.

Visit the Michrenfest site and they should have a listing of all their merchants and I'm sure your friend Elizabeth will be able to point you in the right direction. Hope some of these suggestions help in your quest to find the cup. Hee Hee

Wow....that's a long haul for one day! Don't know HOW you do that!

I can just picture you, cruising up I-75 in the wee hours, singing 'The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round' trying to stave off boredom.

Happy Traveling!

Indeed... Happy traveling!

Looks like I'll only be able to make one day this year.  Time's just running out and I'll have to be at school during Labour Day (they don't give us that day off!  How dare they?  Do they not know that MiRF is going on?  lol), but I WILL  be there sometime in Sept.  With a few of me friends in tow.

About an 18 hour drive... Lots of caffeine... good music... a charged up cell phone... a friend (winks at TinGoliath) to help with the drive... and a nap Friday afternoon!

Oh dear Goddess. Nancy gets horrible stage fright! That's me. Serena, my character, does not. Thank goodness. Seventeen days? Still three hatbands, one pillbox hat, some black work, sock garters, blue ribbon to buy, and a dress to finish.

I have resolved to NOT start any new gowns until after this season is over to save myself the stress. Whether I can hold to that resolution remains to be seen. lol
