So, I am playing queen of a small faire, and tonight we had a pub night, at which I made an appearance in character. I very much enjoyed one of the bands, and sent my guardsman (husband) to inquire at what hour they were playing on the morrow. Much to my surprise, he came back with an answer, and 3 CDs - a gift from the band, done behind the scenes, which I very much appreciate, but feel a little overwhelmed. Of course, I will attend shows for the rest of the weekend, but should I be offering to pay for them?

It was graciously done, but what can I do to show my appreciation?

Hmmm... That's a hard one.

I wouldn't offer to pay for them.  They may be insulted.  It was their choice to send the CD's over, after all.  Perhaps, as queen, you can find some way to publicly acknowledge them at faire or make an appearance on stage.  Either way it was a gift and treat it as such. ;)

You'll figure it out in your own way! Of that I am sure.  ;D

Congratulations on the gifts and your Queenship!

Yes, a public acknowledgement at the opening gate (does your Faire recognize vendors and the like at opening gate every day?); or if you have a public "Court" for airing of grievances and leveling of punishment, you could recognize them then for their generosity of decorating the lanes and your life with their music.   Another option, as Dinobabe mentioned, would be to visit one of their session and acknowledge their kindness at their show.

Good luck!

Thanks for your replies, all!

I ended up buying a round for the band while they were playing at the pub sing, which they then announced. I also thanked them personally for the gift.

Very much enjoyed hanging out with Cu Dubh over the weekend! Big thanks to Dave, for keeping on eye on the Queen, and moving the dust kicker jig  away from her, and then teaching the crowd how best to "huzzah" the queen.

Amazing time was had and very much enjoyed all the performers. Will enjoy the CDs!
