Hey all

I have been working on some new garb for the last couple of months and it has been comping together nicely but I am at a point where I could really use some help/ advice on where to go from here.

Kirtle and smock

Full gown with foresleeves

Gown with attempted under partlet matching the forepart - thinking I might have to make a new one in white as the silk seems to be to thin.

I have some bodice jewels and a girdle belt that are not here yet as well as a new corset to hold the under layers together. But the gown as a whole feels like it is missing something but I am not sure what I can do.

Thanks in advance for any feed back!

Hi LeslieKavara,
The fit and the construction of your gown look absolutely beautiful! Wow!
However, what it's missing to take it to the same high-class level as the fur sleeves is BLING. If you look at portraits from this era, upper-class ladies had bands of ornamentation around the neckline of the dress, bands of trim down the front split of the overskirt, and often a jeweled belt.Without the upper-class farthingale, fur sleeves, and nice foresleeves, it's an adorable and accurate lower class dress which you could totally wear by itself.
Trust your intuition on that black partlet. You're right, black overparlets are usually made of a thicker fabric. You could replace it, or just flatline the black silk with a sturdier fabric to help it keep its shape.
I hope this helps, and that it isn't too late. :)

Thanks for the feed back I have made some progress since my last post this is where it sits now. Was able to get the partlet to lay a lot nicer and the addition of the embroidery and the jewels has helped a lot. This will likely be finished for this year as Minnesota Festival starts on the 19th and I have to start working on stuff for TeslaCon
