I adore the book series! Right now I'm in the middle of "White Night." I haven't watched the TV series, though I know that some websites, like Hulu, have the shows. I guess I haven't seen the show because I have these images in my head of what I expect Harry to look like and how he should behave, and the same with other characters, and I know that the actors are most likely not going to be anywhere near what my imagination has conjured up.

Definite fan here. I've read everything except the most recent hardback (I usually wait for the paperbacks). I refuse to watch the TV show though after seeing the pilot. It was SO fubared from the book, I just couldn't bring myself to watch it again.

I'm wondering if that was a reason why the Sci-Fi Channel ended up canceling the show. The characters were so unlike the book (which is what i have heard from other fans), that the audience just ended up hating the show.

Now i was introduced to the Dresden Files through the show and loving the show i went and got the books. Now i enjoy that they are different and enjoy this difference. But than again thats me.

big fan (even read the hardcover, which I avoid). Show was iffy at best.

It was okay as long as you didn't want it to be like the books.  WWII jeep instead of the blue beetle, really?

LOL, I was gonna go with Bob the Skull being a ghost, but this works!  :P ;D

yeah, the constant manifestation is kinda weird.  And Dresden doesn't seem tall enough, and, no duster.

I mean really, why even bother trying . . .

well they did try i mean when they did the tv show jim butcher was there helping with the show trying to keep it close to the book but one reason it was cancelled was beacuse of the fact when the aired it they mest up the air order because they had most of the season taped an they aired episode 3 first an then went to 2 then 1 then back to the original order which got people confused

The duster was a big deal, to me.  I mean, c'mon! He mentions is constantly!!  The staff, the bracelet and the duster.  Also, I always kinda pictured Harry looking like the author, actually.  Tall, gangly, just a little "geeky".  But, hey! That's just me.  ::)

he did have the braclet and a staff for the most part if you dont mind it looking like a hockey stick

I think the other issue I had, the books are fairly dense, story-wise.

So, they really should be doing at least 6 episodes per book.  Or a mini-series . . .  realistically, the last time I saw a show get something like this even close was the Sci-fi doing of Dune.  That one really worked for me.

Oh yes, I discovered this series based on recommendations from another board, and I have burned through them  I didn't really get into them until Grave Peril but since then I would have to get them three at a time.  I'm almost halfway through Small Favor and I am really enjoying the whole series.  Never did watch the show, though.

This is a series that I see myself re-reading.  There's a lot of information to asorb, but there not so dense you have to slog through them.

the show LOL. OH my...Blackthorn was good as Harry & I liked the more visual form of Bob ( yes they could have had a talking skull & it probably would have been as cheesy as Salem the cat from Sabrina).
Murphy as a Brunette, the lack of a duster, the Hocky stick & yes the jeep...what were they thinking?

I want to play with your head like a drunk kitten:)
