In line with the State of New Jersey's current public orders and the latest timeline offered by public health experts, we are sad to announce that we will be cancelling the 2020 New Jersey Renaissance Faire Season, and all events through the beginning of June. While the order may be lifted prior to these dates, our lack of opportunity to prepare for the season, as well as the scope of public uncertainty brings us to this unfortunate conclusion.
If there is one thing we can learn from the Renaissance is that when the plague arrives, no one is safe. Edgar Allen Poe drives home the message in his Masque of the Red Death. In the turmoil of the global coronavirus pandemic, we are first and foremost committed to safeguarding the health and well-being of our community, our cast/staff, and our loved ones. Public health experts tell us that social/physical distancing is a critical step to mitigating the spread of COVID-19, and we are doing our part.
We are working to identify new performance opportunities once the public orders are lifted and the community has a chance to move freely again. These opportunities and other announcements will be found on our Facebook page, and through our mailing list. Sign up
Charles Dickens said, "The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again." And so shall it be. The New Jersey Renaissance Faire will return in 2021 with great revelry. Save the dates May 22, 23, 29, 30, June 5 and 6, 2021, with School Days at the Faire on June 3 and 4, 2021.
In the meantime, all tickets and Faire passes purchased for the 2020 season will automatically be honored/transferred to the 2021 season. Refund requests will be processed as efficiently as possible now that our office has gone remote. Before you request that refund, however, please realize that we are a very small business and your money is helping to employ people who would otherwise be without.
New Jersey Renaissance Faire staff are currently working from home. General questions and issues can be sent via jotform found on our website, www.njrenfaire.com; called in to our answering service at 1-888-864-8222 (we will return your call as soon as possible); or through direct email to huzzah@njrenfaire.com
